Węglokoks has outlined an ambitious strategy to invest more than $2.3 billion by 2030, aimed at transforming its business model and reducing its reliance on coal. The company plans to reposition itself as a diversified industrial and logistics group, with a strong focus on steel, energy, and logistics. Under the new strategy, the steel segment is expected to emerge as the dominant contributor, accounting for nearly 69 percent of total revenue by the end of the decade.

Of the planned capital expenditure, approximately $1 billion will be allocated to energy projects, $786 million to logistics and related activities, and $550 million to steel operations. Additional investments in key steel assets are expected, though detailed allocations are yet to be finalised.

A central component of the strategy is the development of an integrated steel value chain. The company aims to enhance production capabilities, optimise operations, and strengthen synergies across its metallurgical assets.

Key facilities, including Huta Częstochowa and Huta Łabędy, are expected to play a pivotal role in this transformation. Huta Częstochowa is being positioned as a hub for semi-finished steel production to support other group entities, while Huta Łabędy will focus on strengthening its presence in the pipe manufacturing segment.

Tomasz Slezak, Chief Executive Officer, emphasised the importance of building a complete and efficient value chain—from raw materials and scrap processing to finished steel products and construction solutions. He noted that such integration is essential for improving competitiveness and profitability in a challenging market environment.

The strategy also includes plans to expand into specialised steel products for infrastructure and defence applications, as well as to develop in-house scrap processing capabilities to secure raw material supply. Despite current headwinds in the steel industry, including reduced production levels in Poland in early 2026, Węglokoks views the transformation as a necessary step toward long-term resilience and growth. By aligning its investments with future demand trends and operational efficiencies, the company aims to evolve into a modern industrial group with a strong presence across multiple high-value sectors.
