Vedanta Aluminium marked India’s 80th Independence Day with its #BemisALBharat – In the Making campaign, highlighting the role of people, skills, technology and aluminium in the country’s growth journey. Built around the theme “India in the Making, Turning Possibility into Reality,” the campaign compares the transformation of alumina into aluminium with India’s own journey of development and industrial progress. It showcases how aluminium is supporting key sectors such as infrastructure, mobility, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.
The campaign focuses on three themes — “Building Lives by Building Futures”, “Converting Skills into Livelihoods and Learning into Opportunity” and “Progress that is Lighter, Smarter and Responsible.” Through these themes, Vedanta Aluminium aims to highlight the contribution of manufacturing, skill development and community participation to India’s future.
Rajesh Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said India’s growth is being driven by the ambition and talent of its people. He said aluminium remains an important material for infrastructure, energy, mobility and manufacturing, and that Vedanta Aluminium is focused on supporting India’s development through responsible manufacturing, innovation and sustainable growth.
The campaign was marked across Vedanta Aluminium’s operations in Jharsuguda, Lanjigarh, Bhawanipatna, Rayagada and BALCO. Employees, students and communities participated in flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and other activities celebrating the national occasion.
At Lanjigarh, the celebrations included the inauguration and hoisting of a High-Mast National Flag by Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO, Alumina Business, VAML. The event was followed by a ceremonial parade and recognition of workers and security personnel for their contribution. Students at DAV Vedanta International School presented patriotic and cultural programmes. The company’s Har Ghar Tiranga initiative also reached more than 250 households across six neighbouring villages.
At Jharsuguda and BALCO, activities focused on safety, health, empowerment and sustainability. These included fire and health awareness programmes, self-defence training for women employees and their families, road-safety programmes for driver partners and the ‘Run for Freedom’ mini marathon.
Employees also participated in tree plantation activities, including the ‘Birthday Park’ initiative, encouraging people to mark their birthdays by planting trees. Security personnel took part in sporting events and barrack beautification activities, while business partners participated in sessions on security and compliance.
Vedanta Aluminium said the celebrations extended beyond its workplaces to schools, communities and skill-development initiatives. The company intends to continue supporting India’s development through manufacturing, innovation, skill-building and community programmes.
