Valeo has inaugurated a cutting-edge manufacturing line for electric powertrain systems at its Pune facility, marking a major step forward in its India growth strategy. The inauguration ceremony, held on March 28, was attended by Velusamy R, President of Automotive Business at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, and Xavier Dupont, CEO of Valeo’s Power Division.

The newly launched production line is dedicated to manufacturing highly integrated 3-in-1 e-Axles, a compact system combining the electric motor, inverter, and reducer. This advanced solution has been selected by Mahindra for its upcoming Born Electric platform and is designed to deliver improved efficiency, performance, and reliability for next-generation electric vehicles.

Developed and produced locally in India, the e-Axle represents a significant advancement in localization efforts. By integrating multiple powertrain components into a single system, the technology reduces complexity while enhancing overall vehicle performance. The system also incorporates the latest iteration of Valeo’s motor technology, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of India’s rapidly growing EV market.

Speaking at the event, Xavier Dupont emphasized India’s strategic importance in Valeo’s global roadmap. He noted that investments in Pune align with the company’s “Elevate 2028” plan, which focuses on expanding localized production of advanced mobility technologies. He added that the initiative strengthens Valeo’s ability to support customers with innovative solutions while contributing to safer and more sustainable transportation.

Jayakumar G, President of Valeo India, described the new line as a milestone in the company’s journey in the country. He highlighted that the facility reflects Valeo’s commitment to bringing advanced technologies closer to customers and supporting India’s transition toward electric mobility. He also expressed pride in collaborating with Mahindra on its Born Electric vehicles.

The Pune facility is expected to play a critical role in strengthening India’s electric mobility ecosystem by enabling domestic production of high-value components. As demand for EVs continues to rise, such investments are set to accelerate innovation, reduce dependency on imports, and support the country’s broader sustainability goals.
