Udaipur is preparing to host the third edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon on September 6, with thousands of runners expected to take part in the event celebrating fitness, community and the city’s heritage. Hindustan Zinc unveiled the official jersey and poster for the 2026 race at an event attended by Gaurav Srivastav, Inspector General of Police, Udaipur Range; Roshan Lal, Joint Commissioner, Central GST; Amarendu Prakash, CEO and Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc; representatives of Hindustan Zinc and Anybody Can Run (ABCR), and members of the sporting and civic community.
The marathon, known as India’s Most Beautiful Marathon, has already crossed 5,500 registrations across its 21.097 km, 10 km and 5 km categories. The event is expected to attract participants from across India and international destinations. The previous edition brought together 7,000 runners from 27 Indian states and several countries. This year’s event will bring together professional athletes, first-time runners, families, students and corporate teams under the theme “One Run, One Community.”
Speaking at the jersey and poster launch, Gaurav Srivastav, Inspector General of Police, Udaipur Range, said the marathon has developed into an important sporting event for the city. He noted that the race combines fitness and community participation with an opportunity for runners to experience Udaipur’s landscape and heritage.
Amarendu Prakash, CEO and Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc, said the marathon reflects the company’s belief in sport as a platform for healthier communities and social impact. He added that the event has grown beyond a conventional race to become a celebration of Udaipur while supporting the company’s #RunForZeroHunger initiative. The launch event also featured the premiere of the marathon film, followed by the unveiling of the official jersey and poster. Employees of Hindustan Zinc shared their personal running experiences, while a drum performance added to the excitement.
Organised by Hindustan Zinc in association with Anybody Can Run, the marathon is AIMS-certified and affiliated with World Athletics. The 21.097 km route will start at Field Club and pass through Fateh Sagar Pal, Rotary Club, Sunset Point Park, Nehru Garden and Saheliyon Ki Bari before returning to the starting point.
The 10 km and 5 km routes are designed to encourage participation across age groups and fitness levels. The event also contributes to Udaipur’s growing reputation as a destination for sports and wellness tourism, giving visitors an opportunity to combine running with the city’s lakes, heritage and cultural attractions.
