At this year’s Tube trade show, TRUMPF has introduced its latest innovation in laser tube cutting technology, the TruLaser Tube 7000. Designed to deliver exceptional productivity and flexibility, the new machine sets a benchmark for efficiency in processing a wide range of tube geometries and material thicknesses.
Equipped with nine kilowatts of laser power, the TruLaser Tube 7000 significantly enhances cutting performance, particularly when working with thicker materials. Using nitrogen as the cutting gas, the system achieves impressive gains in speed and throughput. For instance, when processing mild steel with a wall thickness of eight millimeters, productivity can increase by up to 30 percent, while feed rates can improve by as much as 150 percent. These advancements enable manufacturers to boost output while lowering the cost per component.
The machine has been engineered to meet the growing demand for versatility in tube processing. It supports both high-speed, precision cutting of small-diameter tubes and efficient handling of large, thick-walled profiles. The expanded outer circle capacity of 290 millimeters allows for the processing of square tubes up to 203.2 x 203.2 millimeters, round tubes with diameters up to 273 millimeters, and rectangular profiles with side lengths reaching 254 millimeters. At the same time, smaller tubes with diameters starting at 12 millimeters can be cut with remarkable accuracy and speed.
To ensure consistent part quality, TRUMPF has enhanced its intelligent assistance systems. The updated ScanLine function now incorporates a new feature called Quality Pilot. This addition evaluates the condition of each tube and determines whether measurements are required, as well as how frequently they should be performed. By automatically adjusting inspection cycles based on material quality, the system minimizes unnecessary checks and improves overall efficiency.
Another innovation, ObserveLine Comfort, further enhances quality assurance. After the cutting process is complete, the machine’s cutting head scans the contour using a low-intensity laser pulse to confirm that scrap material has been fully removed. This reduces the need for manual intervention and improves process reliability.
The introduction of ObserveLine Edge technology adds further flexibility by enabling seamless processing of pre-punched tubes and profiles. The system detects existing contours within the material and automatically adjusts the cutting program, allowing manufacturers to efficiently handle semi-finished components without additional setup.
Digital integration plays a key role in the new machine generation. The TruLaser Tube 7000 is fully connected to TRUMPF’s digital service ecosystem, including advanced condition monitoring capabilities. By analyzing machine data in real time, the system can identify deviations and predict component wear, helping prevent unexpected downtime and ensuring smoother production operations.
Automation is another central feature of the system. The included LoadMaster Tube loading unit supports low-labor operation, while the tilt-and-lift station enables seamless integration with storage systems and automated unloading solutions. These features contribute to a streamlined workflow and support the transition toward smart manufacturing environments.
Available in multiple configurations with loading and unloading lengths of up to 12.5 meters, the TruLaser Tube 7000 is designed to meet diverse production needs. It is particularly well-suited for industries such as mechanical engineering, construction, automotive manufacturing, and agricultural machinery, where both flexibility and efficiency are critical.
With its combination of power, precision, and intelligent automation, the TruLaser Tube 7000 represents a significant advancement in laser tube cutting technology, enabling manufacturers to adapt quickly to changing demands while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
