Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced its Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at KIIT Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar, under its CSR initiatives for FY 2025–26. The initiative focuses on advancing skill development among youth and building a stronger talent base for India’s automotive sector.

The program was inaugurated in the presence of Prof Dr Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT; HK Mohanty, Additional Director – Skills, KIIT; Tanmay Mohanty, Principal, KIIT; along with principals and senior representatives from Toyota Kirloskar Motor and its dealership network. The newly established T-TEP centre will provide training across six trades, including Mechanical Engineering, with an annual intake capacity of 350 students. The program is designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills in automotive service and maintenance, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry requirements.

As part of this initiative, TKM will deliver structured training support covering service skills, along with modules aimed at building discipline and workplace readiness. The one-year program is tailored for final-year diploma students and combines classroom learning with hands-on experience through on-the-job training at authorised Toyota dealerships. The curriculum has been developed in line with evolving needs of the automotive industry in India.

The initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and contributes to efforts aimed at creating a future-ready workforce. By enabling access to industry-focused training, the program seeks to enhance employment opportunities, particularly for students from rural and underserved backgrounds.

Prof Dr Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT, welcomed the collaboration, stating that the initiative would significantly enhance students’ technical capabilities and career prospects. He noted that exposure to global training standards and practical dealership experience would help students build confidence and succeed in the automotive field.

Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company remains committed to promoting technical education and creating employment opportunities through its CSR efforts. He added that the program aims to nurture skilled professionals while contributing to the broader Skill India vision.

TKM has been actively engaged in skill development through initiatives such as the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and T-TEP. Since 2006, the T-TEP program has trained over 14,000 students across the country, with more than 70 percent of participants securing employment in automobile companies and authorised dealerships.
