Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has concluded its Environment Month 2026 programme, bringing together employees, families, suppliers, dealers, logistics partners and communities under the theme “Move Towards Climate Positive Company through Resource Recycling.” The month-long campaign involved more than 13,600 participants and focused on carbon reduction, resource conservation, waste management, biodiversity and circular economy practices. The initiative supports TKM’s wider environmental commitments under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.

Collaborative activities across TKM’s operations and its value chain resulted in measurable environmental benefits. The company reported a reduction of more than 3,005 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, including 895 tonnes within TKM operations and 2,110 tonnes across supplier activities.

Water savings during the campaign stood at approximately 16,806 m³/KL, including 518 m³ at TKM and 16,288 KL across suppliers. More than 231 tonnes of waste reduction was recorded through initiatives involving TKM, suppliers and dealers. The dealer network also achieved electricity savings of 255 MWh, while manufacturing improvements reduced VOC emissions by 3.19 g/m².

Employee participation remained central to the programme. More than 1,700 employees took part in eco-driving activities aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions, while 1,464 participants joined environmental quizzes. Plantation activities resulted in more than 89,000 saplings being planted, supporting biodiversity and carbon sequestration. Environmental drawing competitions involving more than 1,500 employee family members helped extend sustainability awareness beyond the workplace.

Another major feature was Hasiru Santhe, an environmental exhibition featuring more than 27 stalls and attracting over 3,000 stakeholders. The exhibition presented products and solutions covering organic food, nature-based cosmetics, waste-to-wealth initiatives, smart energy systems and energy-efficient technologies.

Several circular economy applications were demonstrated, including the conversion of cotton waste into felt material, reuse of copper waste in tyre valve applications and transformation of corrugated paper waste into new packaging materials. The programme also highlighted the use of Compressed Biogas (CBG) as an alternative green cooking fuel. TKM estimates that the initiative could reduce approximately 980 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

BPadmanabha, Senior Executive Vice President and Director, Manufacturing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the programme demonstrated the impact of collective environmental action across employees, families, suppliers and communities. TKM continues to pursue environmental initiatives beyond Environment Month. Through the Toyota Green Wave Project, the company has supported more than 650 plant species and over 400 faunal species. Its Ecozone programme has reached more than 62,000 students, helping build environmental awareness among younger generations.

Since 2001, TKM has undertaken community initiatives across education, environment, road safety, skill development, health and hygiene and disaster management. The company continues to align these efforts with its broader commitment to sustainable development and its philosophy of “Creating Mobility for All.”
