Tejas Networks has announced a significant milestone in India’s digital infrastructure journey, having shipped over 17,000 IP/MPLS routers for the BharatNet Phase III initiative. The company’s TJ1400 routers are currently being deployed across 9 states and 5 union territories by Project Implementation Agency (PIA) partners, with live traffic already running at multiple locations. As part of the larger rollout, Tejas Networks is set to supply nearly 60,000 routers, which will support connectivity across more than 55,000 ग्राम पंचायत (Gram Panchayats) and over 2,000 blocks nationwide.
BharatNet is a flagship initiative by the Government of India aimed at enabling digital empowerment in rural areas through high-speed broadband connectivity. The large-scale deployment of routers forms the backbone of the program’s middle-mile network, ensuring reliable and scalable data transmission to underserved regions.
Tejas Networks’ router portfolio is built on its innovative Software-defined Hardware™ architecture, delivering flexibility, scalability, and high performance. The company offers a wide range of modular and compact next-generation access and aggregation routers capable of supporting terabit-scale IP/MPLS networks. These solutions are designed to meet stringent performance benchmarks required for mission-critical infrastructure.
Arnob Roy, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Tejas Networks, highlighted that the milestone reflects the company’s growing strength in advanced networking technologies. He noted that the achievement underscores Tejas Networks’ emergence as a trusted global supplier of carrier-class routers for critical infrastructure projects.
