The Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD), the company’s CSR arm, has launched an Armed Forces Training Programme in the Okhamandal block in partnership with Ramshingbha Trust (ManekDefence Academy). Implemented during FY 2024–25, the initiative is designed to support rural youth aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces.

The programme has shown promising results since its launch. In the first training batch, 12 candidates enrolled, with seven securing selection in the Indian Army under the Agniveer scheme. In the current year, 27 candidates are undergoing training. Among them, one candidate has been selected for the Indian Air Force, three have cleared written, physical, and medical examinations under the SSC GD category and are awaiting the final merit list, while 14 candidates have cleared the written examination and are preparing for subsequent selection stages.

To improve access and participation, TCSRD has extended financial support toward training fees. Candidates from SC/ST categories and women participants receive 75 percent fee assistance, while candidates from other social categories are provided 50 percent support, easing the cost burden for rural aspirants.

Commenting on the initiative, Ujas Dave, Head of CSR at Tata Chemicals, said the programme is aimed at giving rural youth structured preparation and fair access to opportunities in the armed forces. He noted that the focus on both quality training and affordability helps improve readiness and participation among candidates from underserved regions. The initiative is part of Tata Chemicals’ broader commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods through skill development, education, and employment-focused programmes, with a continued emphasis on empowering youth through targeted interventions.
