STL has unveiled India’s first Hollow Core Fibre (HCF) cable, marking a significant advancement in optical communication technology for next-generation digital infrastructure. The innovation is designed to meet the increasing demands of data centres, hyperscale networks, and high-frequency transmission systems requiring ultra-low latency and high bandwidth.

Unlike conventional optical fibres that transmit light through a solid glass core, the new HCF technology guides light through an air-filled core. This approach allows signals to travel at significantly higher speeds—up to nearly 46 percent faster—while reducing latency and signal attenuation. The result is a high-performance solution suited for emerging applications driven by artificial intelligence and large-scale data processing.

To address diverse network requirements, STL has developed a hybrid cable design that integrates multiple fibre types within a single architecture. The configuration includes Hollow Core Fibre for low-latency performance, G.654.E fibre for long-distance transmission with minimal loss, and G.657.A1 NOVA fibre for enhanced flexibility and broader deployment scenarios.

The launch reflects STL’s continued investment in research and development, with a strong focus on building advanced connectivity solutions for evolving digital ecosystems. With a portfolio of more than 780 patents, the company has been actively working on technologies that support high-speed, scalable, and energy-efficient networks.

Industry demand for faster and more reliable data transmission has grown rapidly with the expansion of cloud computing, AI workloads, and real-time applications. STL’s new offering is positioned to address these requirements by enabling improved network performance across critical infrastructure environments.

Company leadership indicated that the development represents a milestone in efforts to create infrastructure capable of supporting future digital needs. By introducing Hollow Core Fibre technology in India, STL aims to strengthen its role in the global connectivity landscape while supporting domestic innovation.

STL operates across multiple regions, with manufacturing and development facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia. Its solutions are deployed in more than 100 countries, serving telecom operators, enterprises, and data centre providers. The introduction of HCF technology highlights the company’s focus on enabling next-generation networks and underscores its commitment to delivering advanced optical solutions that align with the evolving demands of the digital economy.
