SMK Helmets Introduces Laminar: A Sleek Open-Face Helmet Featuring Three Shell Sizes for a Perfect Fit

SMK Helmets, part of STUDDS Accessories Ltd—recognized as the world’s largest two-wheeler helmet maker by volume in 2024 (CARE Report)—has unveiled its newest open-face helmet, the SMK Laminar. Designed to balance safety, comfort, and style, the Laminar stands out with its unique offering of three different outer shell sizes. This feature ensures a tailored fit for riders with varying head shapes, unlike many helmets that simply adjust internal padding for different sizes.

Sidhartha Bhushan Khurana, Managing Director of STUDDS Accessories Ltd, commented, “At SMK, our goal is to merge advanced safety features with rider-centric designs. The Laminar is a testament to that effort—providing aerodynamic performance, an eye-catching look, and a fit that adapts through multiple shell sizes. This innovation addresses a significant gap in open-face helmets and makes quality design accessible to more riders.”

The Laminar shell is crafted from EIRT (Energy Impact Resistant Thermoplastic), a material designed to absorb and disperse collision forces more effectively than traditional thermoplastics while remaining lightweight. This helmet meets the latest global safety certifications, including ECE 22.06 and DOT.

Inside, it uses multi-density EPS foam to further cushion impacts. Riders will appreciate the scratch-resistant visor that reduces glare and blocks debris, along with an optional chopper-style visor for those seeking a different aesthetic.

Engineered for extended use, the Laminar includes channelled ventilation that keeps air flowing smoothly, helping riders stay cool. The interior lining is made from antistatic fabric that manages moisture and can be removed for cleaning, ensuring the helmet stays fresh.

The helmet’s padded chin straps and washable liners add comfort for long journeys, while the quick-release visor and buckle system allow riders to easily secure the helmet or swap visors without hassle—making it ideal for daily use or weekend rides.

The SMK Laminar is offered in two variants: Laminar Solid, available in six solid colors starting at INR 2,799, and Laminar Starz, featuring eight graphic designs starting at INR 3,100. Both versions can be found at authorized retail outlets and SMK’s exclusive stores nationwide.

STUDDS Accessories Ltd stands as India’s top two-wheeler helmet maker by revenue in Fiscal 2023 and leads the global market by volume in 2024 (CARE Report). With nearly 50 years of experience and manufacturing facilities capable of producing over 9 million helmets annually, the company sold approximately 7.1 million helmets in Fiscal 2024.

The SMK brand, launched in 2016, enjoys a strong presence both domestically and internationally, reaching over 70 countries worldwide. Alongside helmets, STUDDS markets a range of riding gear and accessories under its Studds and SMK brands, catering to a global clientele across the Americas, Asia (excluding India), Europe, and beyond.
