SLB (NYSE: SLB) has announced a strategic collaboration agreement between PETRONAS Suriname E&P BV, a subsidiary of PETRONAS, and Subsea Integration Alliance, comprising SLB OneSubsea and Subsea7. The agreement is designed to accelerate the development of subsea resources in Suriname’s emerging frontier basin through integrated engineering and execution capabilities.
The collaboration establishes a long-term framework spanning the full project lifecycle, enabling early engagement between all parties. This approach allows joint definition of development strategies, improved technical alignment, and co-creation of cost-efficient subsea solutions aimed at enhancing overall project economics and execution certainty.
According to SLB OneSubsea leadership, the agreement reflects a shared focus on simplification and performance-driven collaboration. Early involvement in project planning is expected to improve delivery timelines, reduce development risk, and support safer, more efficient operations.
Under the framework, Subsea Integration Alliance may deliver integrated EPCIC (engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning) solutions for multiple offshore developments in Suriname. The scope includes subsea production systems (SPS) as well as subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF), covering key components required for deepwater field development.
The partnership is expected to play a significant role in unlocking value from complex offshore assets by combining subsea production expertise with large-scale marine installation and project execution capabilities. By leveraging integrated planning and execution, the collaboration aims to streamline development processes and optimize resource recovery in the region.
Subsea Integration Alliance leadership highlighted the strategic importance of Suriname’s offshore potential and emphasized that combining technical strengths across organizations will be critical in maximizing value from future developments. The alliance brings together deepwater engineering expertise and project delivery capabilities to support efficient development of new energy resources.
Key highlights of the collaboration include early-stage joint planning, improved project execution efficiency, reduced development risk, and enhanced lifecycle value across PETRONAS Suriname’s portfolio. The initiative also reinforces a broader industry trend toward integrated subsea development models that combine technology, engineering, and installation capabilities under a unified framework.
SLB OneSubsea continues to advance subsea innovation through digitalization and system integration, focusing on improving production efficiency while supporting lower-emission operations. The joint venture operates globally with major engineering hubs in Oslo and Houston and employs approximately 10,000 people worldwide.
