Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has introduced the Nomad 100 Fast Pack, a containerised vertical take-off and landing uncrewed aerial system designed for deployment in locations with limited infrastructure. Announced in Washington on October 12, 2026, the system packages four Nomad 100 aircraft, mission-command software, communications equipment, power systems and sustainment resources inside a single 20-foot ISO container. The configuration is intended to help military operators deploy, support and relocate autonomous aircraft with limited ground infrastructure.

The Nomad 100 Fast Pack is designed for operations in remote and challenging environments where conventional runways and extensive support facilities may not be available. Potential applications include intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting (ISR-T), light attack and contested logistics, depending on the customer’s configuration.

According to Sikorsky, two aircraft in the planned configuration can be made mission-ready in less than 15 minutes, while the remaining two can be prepared within four to six hours. The system is designed to operate from locations such as naval vessels, tactical vehicle staging areas and improvised landing zones.

Integrated communications, power and sustainment equipment are intended to support continued operations while reducing dependence on external resources. After completing a mission, operators can repack the equipment into the container, load it onto a compatible transport vehicle and move it to another location.

Rich Benton, vice president and general manager of Sikorsky, said military customers were seeking ways to increase the availability of uncrewed aircraft that could be deployed and repositioned quickly. He said the containerised package brings aircraft, mission control, communications, power and support equipment together to simplify deployment and sustainment.

The Nomad 100 is part of Sikorsky’s Nomad family of runway-independent vertical take-off and landing uncrewed aircraft designed for operations on land and at sea. The aircraft uses Lockheed Martin’s MATRIX autonomy technology to support autonomous flight and operator-directed missions.

The Nomad design combines the vertical lift and hovering capability of a helicopter with the speed, range and endurance associated with a fixed-wing aircraft. This configuration is intended to provide operational flexibility where conventional aircraft may face limitations because of runway availability or infrastructure requirements.

The Fast Pack is designed to give operators a transportable system that can be moved between locations as mission requirements change. Its container-based configuration brings the main aircraft and support elements into one package, reducing the need to assemble separate equipment systems at each deployment site.

Sikorsky’s introduction of the Nomad 100 Fast Pack comes as military organisations seek compact uncrewed systems that can be deployed and sustained across dispersed operating areas. The company said the package is intended to support rapid deployment, flexible relocation and multirole operations in demanding environments.
