Siemens has announced the expansion of its industrial private 5G infrastructure to the United States and seven additional countries, extending its footprint to a total of 15 markets across Europe and the Americas. The development is supported by the introduction of new radio units designed to operate across key frequency bands, enabling broader adoption of secure, high-performance wireless connectivity in industrial environments.
A major component of the expansion is the launch of a dedicated radio unit for the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band, which is specific to the United States. This enables manufacturers to deploy private 5G networks on their own premises with full control over connectivity, supporting a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, intralogistics, heavy industry, and crane operations.
In addition to expanding geographic coverage, Siemens has enhanced its 5G routers with integrated edge runtime capabilities. This advancement allows industrial applications to run directly on the router, removing the need for additional computing hardware. By processing data at the edge, closer to where it is generated, companies can achieve faster response times and enable real-time, AI-driven decision-making on the shop floor.
The updates address a growing demand for reliable and flexible connectivity in modern production environments. As manufacturing processes become increasingly digital and data-intensive, private 5G networks offer the performance, security, and scalability required to support advanced automation, robotics, and analytics.
Siemens Digital Industries continues to play a central role in enabling digital transformation across both process and discrete manufacturing sectors. Its portfolio combines automation technologies and industrial software to support the design, execution, and optimisation of production systems.
Through its Siemens Xcelerator platform, the company provides an open and scalable digital ecosystem that simplifies the adoption of new technologies. This approach allows businesses of all sizes to accelerate innovation, improve operational efficiency, and advance sustainability goals.
