Siemens and IFS have announced a strategic partnership to help manufacturers bridge the gap between engineering design and real-world operations by connecting industrial intelligence, automation, asset management, and service data through Industrial AI. The collaboration aims to help companies optimise production performance, improve asset reliability, and unlock greater value across the entire product lifecycle.

Manufacturers today face increasing pressure to improve productivity, extend asset life, protect margins, and respond rapidly to changing market conditions. However, many organisations continue to operate with disconnected systems, where engineering data, production processes, maintenance strategies, and supply chain information remain isolated. This lack of integration can lead to operational inefficiencies, unplanned downtime, reduced agility, and missed opportunities for continuous improvement.

By combining Siemens’ expertise in industrial AI, engineering, automation, manufacturing execution, and digital twin technology with IFS’s capabilities in industrial AI, enterprise asset management, and field service management, the partnership seeks to create a connected digital ecosystem that brings together product design intent and operational performance data.

At the centre of the collaboration is the development of a closed-loop Digital Twin approach. Siemens’ comprehensive Digital Twin technology provides engineering, simulation, and manufacturing insights, while IFS contributes operational lifecycle information, including asset behaviour, service history, and field performance data. Together, these capabilities are designed to help manufacturers create a secure, governed, and trusted digital foundation that connects design, production, maintenance, and service operations.

Industrial AI will play a critical role in enabling this transformation. Unlike general-purpose AI solutions, industrial environments require highly accurate, reliable, and context-aware intelligence due to the impact decisions can have on safety, compliance, productivity, and valuable physical assets. Siemens and IFS are focused on delivering AI solutions designed specifically for industrial applications, where precision and trust are essential.

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Digital Industries Software, said, “Industrial AI creates real value when it connects engineering knowledge with actual operational performance. By bringing together design, manufacturing, and asset lifecycle data through a secure and contextualised data environment, Siemens and IFS will help manufacturers accelerate innovation and make more confident decisions throughout the product lifecycle.”

Mark Moffat, Chief Executive Officer, IFS, added, “Manufacturers need operations that perform as intended and adapt to changing conditions. By combining our strengths in Industrial AI, Siemens and IFS can help organisations close the loop between product design and operational reality, creating measurable improvements in efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.”

Siemens Digital Industries Software enables organisations to digitally transform through software, hardware, and services delivered through the Siemens Xcelerator platform. Its digital twin technology helps companies optimise product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to create sustainable products and production systems.
