TotalEnergies has completed the divestment of its distributed solar generation activities across seven European countries, reinforcing its strategy to focus renewable energy development on large-scale utility solar and wind projects. The transaction covers approximately 170 MW of distributed solar assets, mainly rooftop installations, located in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg. The assets have been acquired by Amarenco and AMPYR Distributed Energy, which will continue operating them to ensure uninterrupted service for customers.
Through this divestment, TotalEnergies has concluded its distributed generation activities in these markets. Distributed generation projects, generally below 3 MW, require a business model that differs from the development of large utility-scale renewable power plants, where the company can leverage its expertise and economies of scale more effectively.
The decision supports TotalEnergies’ ambition to optimize its renewable portfolio and allocate resources toward large-scale solar and wind projects with strong growth potential. The company continues to expand its renewable energy footprint by focusing on projects that contribute significantly to the energy transition while delivering operational efficiencies.
The divestment has no impact on TotalEnergies’ renewable energy growth targets. The company added 8 GW of gross renewable capacity over the past twelve months, reaching 35 GW of gross renewable capacity at the end of March 2026. TotalEnergies aims to maintain this annual deployment pace through 2030 and achieve more than 75 GW of gross renewable capacity by the end of the decade. The company remains committed to developing renewable energy solutions worldwide, including solar and wind projects, to support the transition toward a lower-carbon energy system.
