Shyam Metalics, one of India’s foremost integrated metal producers, has announced its strategic entry into the crash barrier market, aiming to capture an 8–10% share by the fiscal year 2025–26. Production has commenced at the company’s advanced Giridih facility, which boasts an annual capacity of 24,000 MT and employs over 150 skilled professionals.
With infrastructure investments in India expected to boost crash barrier demand by 25% per year, Shyam Metalics is well-positioned to scale its operations. The company has earmarked an investment of ₹50 crore to set up a new 60 KTPA crash barrier manufacturing plant in Sambalpur, targeting the South and West regions. Furthermore, in FY 2026–27, Shyam Metalics plans to expand its product offerings at the Giridih plant and launch Phase 2 with an additional ₹50 crore investment to diversify into Transmission Line Towers, Railway Electrification Structures, Solar Panel Structures, Lighting Poles, and more.
The Giridih plant, operational since 2014, began producing crash barriers in August 2025. Running 24/7, the facility ensures fast delivery while adhering to global quality and IS standards, including a galvanization unit that enhances long-term durability. Its current product range includes W Metal Beam Crash Barriers, Thrie Metal Beam Crash Barriers, and W Beam Railway Guard Rails, serving projects by Indian Railways and National Highways.
Commenting on this development, Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of Shyam Metalics, stated, “The launch of our crash barrier unit is a significant milestone in enhancing road and railway safety across India. This new business vertical could add nearly 50% more value to our Giridih operations in the years ahead. As infrastructure investments rise, we see vast growth opportunities and remain committed to building a safer, stronger, and more self-reliant nation.” Currently supplying to Indian Railways and National Highways, Shyam Metalics is exploring export opportunities in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, capitalizing on global infrastructure development prospects.
