National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in collaboration with the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), hosted an exclusive roadshow on September 23, 2025, to showcase the Angul Aluminium Park Pvt Ltd (AAPPL). This joint venture between NALCO and IDCO aims to develop a dedicated industrial park in Angul, Odisha, and the event, held in Bhubaneswar, attracted government officials, industry leaders, investors, and other key stakeholders.
Hemant Kumar Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department, Government of Odisha, graced the event as the chief guest. He was joined by Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD of NALCO, along with other distinguished guests, including Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of Tata Steel SEZ, and Jagdish Arora, Director (P&T) of NALCO.
In his keynote address, Shri Singh emphasized the world-class facilities available at the Angul Aluminium Park, including advanced transportation connectivity, uninterrupted power and water supply, administrative offices, training centers, and laboratories. He also announced that NALCO would supply 50,000 tonnes of hot metal annually to downstream industries, fostering cost-effective production and enhancing competitiveness.
Hemant Kumar Sharma highlighted Odisha’s dominance in aluminium production, noting that the state accounts for nearly 72% of India’s primary aluminium output. However, he pointed out that there is significant untapped potential in downstream aluminium industries. He described aluminium as the “future metal” with applications in sectors like packaging, appliances, transportation, electric vehicles, and aerospace.
Shri Sharma called on investors to explore opportunities at AAPPL, which currently spans 223 acres and is set to expand to 600 acres. With its strategic location near NALCO and other industrial hubs, AAPPL has already attracted three industries, with additional ones in the pipeline. He also praised both state and central initiatives, including tax reductions, investor-friendly policies, and strong support for entrepreneurs.
Manikanta Naik, MD of Tata Steel SEZ, shared success stories from the Gopalpur Industrial Park, emphasizing the transformative impact it has had on Odisha’s industrial landscape. He expressed strong optimism about the future of AAPPL, suggesting that it could mirror and potentially surpass the success of Gopalpur.
Jagdish Arora, Director of NALCO, concluded the event by reaffirming the commitment of both NALCO and Odisha to developing AAPPL into a vibrant industrial hub. Presentations from IPICOL, NALCO, and JNARDDC provided further insights into the state’s investor-friendly policies, advancements in industrial park infrastructure, and significant opportunities in the aluminium downstream sector. The roadshow attracted over 100 participants, including top investors, entrepreneurs, and industry associations, all eager to explore the potential of Odisha’s expanding aluminium industry.
