RITES Limited, a leading transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MECON Limited, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, to jointly explore business opportunities and execute consultancy and infrastructure projects across multiple sectors. The partnership brings together the strengths of both organisations to deliver integrated engineering and project management solutions for domestic as well as international markets.

The agreement marks a strategic collaboration between two of India’s established engineering and consultancy organisations. While RITES brings decades of experience in transport infrastructure planning, design and consultancy, MECON contributes its expertise in metals, mining, energy and industrial infrastructure. Together, the companies aim to expand their presence by pursuing large-scale projects that require multidisciplinary engineering capabilities.

Under the MoU, RITES and MECON will jointly identify, bid for and execute consultancy assignments covering a broad spectrum of infrastructure sectors. These include railways, metro rail systems, highways, expressways, airports, ports, ropeways, bridges, tunnels, urban transport, energy, water resources, hydropower, wastewater management and industrial infrastructure.

The collaboration will focus on delivering comprehensive solutions by combining the technical knowledge, engineering expertise and project execution capabilities of both organisations. The partnership is expected to strengthen their ability to participate in complex infrastructure projects that demand integrated planning, design, engineering and project management services.

In addition to expanding opportunities within India, the two companies will also work together to explore projects in international markets. By leveraging their complementary strengths, RITES and MECON aim to support governments, public sector agencies and private clients with high-quality consultancy services and sustainable infrastructure solutions across diverse geographies.

The MoU reflects the growing emphasis on collaboration among public sector enterprises to address the increasing demand for modern infrastructure. As India continues to invest in transportation networks, industrial development and urban infrastructure, partnerships of this nature are expected to improve project delivery capabilities and create greater value for clients.

The alliance also supports the government’s focus on developing world-class infrastructure while enhancing the global presence of Indian engineering and consultancy organisations. By combining resources, technical expertise and industry experience, RITES and MECON intend to pursue projects that contribute to economic growth, improved connectivity and sustainable development.
