Renault India has commenced global exports of the all-new Duster, marking a significant milestone in the company’s manufacturing and international expansion strategy. The first consignment of 750 vehicles has been dispatched from the company’s manufacturing facility near Chennai to South Africa, with exports to additional overseas markets planned in the coming months.

The launch of exports reinforces India’s growing importance within Renault Group’s global production and supply network. The development also aligns with the company’s long-term strategy of positioning India as a key centre for manufacturing, engineering excellence and export operations, while supporting the country’s ambition to emerge as a major global automotive production hub.

The all-new Duster is the first Renault model manufactured in India on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), a next-generation architecture designed to support multiple powertrain technologies and future mobility requirements. Built to global quality standards, the SUV has also secured a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across all variants and powertrain options, highlighting its strong safety credentials for both domestic and international markets.

The export programme demonstrates Renault India’s confidence in the capabilities of its Chennai manufacturing facility, which has become an integral part of the company’s worldwide industrial ecosystem. The plant combines advanced manufacturing technologies with skilled engineering talent to produce vehicles that meet international quality and performance standards.

Commenting on the development, Stephane Deblaise, Chief Executive Officer of Renault Group India, said the commencement of exports of the all-new Duster represents a major achievement for Renault’s operations in India. He noted that the milestone reflects the high manufacturing standards, operational capabilities and competitiveness of the Chennai facility, further strengthening India’s position within Renault’s global manufacturing footprint.

He added that India possesses all the essential strengths required to become one of the world’s leading automotive export centres, including advanced manufacturing infrastructure, a highly skilled engineering workforce, economies of scale and an evolving logistics ecosystem. According to him, Renault plans to deepen its investment in the country’s export capabilities as part of its long-term objective of generating €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030.

Renault India currently manufactures vehicles at its integrated production facility in Oragadam, Chennai, which has an annual installed capacity of 480,000 units. The company also maintains an extensive nationwide sales and service network, supported by hundreds of customer touchpoints and innovative service initiatives that enhance ownership experience across urban and rural markets.
