Ramsarup Industries Limited (RIL), a part of Shyam Metalics, one of India’s leading integrated metal producers, has commenced the startup of its modern Blast Furnace with Stove Heating, with commercial production scheduled by the end of November 2025. In parallel, the company’s Linear Sinter Plant is also set to begin commercial operations in the third week of November. These developments form part of a ₹369 crore investment aimed at expanding production of high-quality Alloy, Carbon, and Special Steel products using EAF, LRF, and VD processes across multiple industrial sectors.

The newly installed Blast Furnace, with a production capacity of 0.45 million tonnes per year, features a 350 cubic meter volume, three top-fired stoves, advanced coal injection technology, and a dry gas cleaning system. The plant integrates energy recovery solutions, including a 2.5 MW Top Gas Pressure Recovery Turbine (TRT) and 8 MW energy recovery via the BFG Boiler, increasing overall efficiency by approximately 10%. Additionally, a specialized evaporative cooling system reduces water and power usage by roughly 20% compared to conventional setups, while a zero process water discharge design enhances sustainability and operational efficiency.

The Linear Sinter Plant will convert iron ore fines into feedstock suitable for the Blast Furnace, streamlining operations and reducing production costs. Together with the Pulverized Coal Injection (PCI) system and Oxygen Plant, these facilities are expected to optimize steel production while maintaining environmentally responsible practices.

Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of Shyam Metalics & Energy Limited, stated, “The commissioning of our new Blast Furnace and Linear Sinter Plant marks an important milestone for Ramsarup Industries. These facilities not only expand our production capacity but also incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable technologies. This investment positions us to meet growing demand for premium Alloy, Carbon, and Special Steel products while supporting India’s industrial growth.”

This expansion reflects Ramsarup Industries’ commitment to operational excellence, leveraging high top pressure (1.3 bar) and high-temperature hot blast (1250°C) technology to maximize coal injection and energy savings. The project underlines the company’s strategic focus on delivering high-quality steel while prioritizing environmentally responsible operations.

Shyam Metalics is a leading integrated metal manufacturer in India, producing long steel products, ferro alloys, aluminum, and stainless steel across states including West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh. Listed on stock exchanges since 2021, the company has a market capitalization of ₹25,554 crore.

Headquartered in Kolkata, Shyam Metalics operates some of the largest ferro alloy and sponge iron capacities in the country, with an aggregate installed metal capacity of 15.13 MTPA and 467 MW of captive power. Under the leadership of B Bhushan Agarwal, the company focuses on delivering quality products and value-added solutions across the steel value chain.
