PTC Industries Limited, a prominent Indian manufacturer specializing in high-performance alloys and precision-engineered components for aerospace and defence, has received a significant Purchase Order from the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The order is for Post-Cast Operations to produce Single Crystal “Ready-to-Fit” Turbine Blades—a major step forward in India’s aero-engine manufacturing capabilities.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of PTC’s Titanium and Superalloys Materials Plant at the Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in Lucknow, attended by Honourable Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath. This development marks the first time an Indian company has been entrusted with complete Post-Cast Operations—covering machining, grinding, brazing, vacuum heat treatment, thermal barrier coating, and powder vapour deposition—of Single Crystal turbine blades. Such work is typically performed by only a few specialised organisations across the globe.
The order deepens the long-standing partnership between GTRE and PTC Industries, reinforcing the Government of India’s mission for indigenisation and self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. It also reflects GTRE’s trust in PTC’s advanced technical capabilities in casting, heat treatment, and high-precision machining for components that operate under extreme temperature and stress conditions.
Commenting on the achievement, Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries, stated “This order from GTRE is a milestone of national importance. Single Crystal turbine blades are among the most complex and strategically vital parts of modern jet engines. Developing this technology in India strengthens our nation’s path toward complete aerospace manufacturing independence and technological self-reliance.”
He further noted that the project would leverage the combined expertise of PTC’s Indian facilities and its UK-based subsidiary, Trac Precision Solutions, to ensure seamless execution and delivery of the ready-to-fit blades and vanes. Over the years, PTC Industries has become a trusted supplier to India’s defence and aerospace sectors, providing mission-critical components to organisations such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), DRDO, and BrahMos. The company also exports titanium and superalloy castings to international aerospace giants including Safran, Dassault Aviation, BAE Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), solidifying India’s integration into global aerospace supply chains.
The award of this Single Crystal Blade contract highlights India’s growing capabilities in advanced materials and propulsion technology—an essential step toward the nation’s long-term vision of designing and manufacturing its own aero-engines. With over six decades of expertise, PTC Industries Limited is one of India’s foremost producers of precision metal components for critical applications.
Through its subsidiary Aerolloy Technologies Limited, the company manufactures titanium and superalloy castings for aerospace customers in both domestic and global markets. PTC is currently expanding its operations through major investments in its Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC)—a world-class facility equipped for producing aerospace-grade titanium and superalloy materials, advanced foundries, and near-net-shape machining capabilities for high-performance precision components.
