PTC Industries Limited has received a development order from Gun Factory Kanpur for the manufacture of two major artillery gun components, reinforcing the company’s growing role in India’s defence manufacturing sector. The order marks another significant milestone in PTC Industries’ efforts to support indigenous defence capabilities through advanced engineering, precision manufacturing, and high-performance materials.
The latest development order strengthens the company’s expanding portfolio of strategic defence programmes and reflects increasing confidence in its ability to manufacture mission-critical components that meet stringent quality, metallurgical, and operational requirements. PTC Industries continues to work closely with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Defence Public Sector Undertakings, and other leading defence manufacturing organisations on several advanced aerospace and defence initiatives.
The company has established itself as a trusted supplier of critical cast components for the M777 ultra-lightweight towed howitzer programme of BAE Systems, one of the world’s most advanced artillery platforms. Participation in the M777 programme has enabled PTC Industries to develop expertise in manufacturing components capable of meeting demanding international standards for strength, durability, and performance under extreme operating conditions. The new order from Gun Factory Kanpur builds on this experience and further expands the company’s involvement in India’s indigenous artillery programmes.
The project also reinforces PTC ONEâ„¢ – From Melt to Missionâ„¢, the company’s integrated manufacturing philosophy that combines advanced metallurgy, precision engineering, and end-to-end manufacturing capabilities to produce mission-critical components and assemblies. The framework supports applications across defence, aerospace, naval systems, space, energy, and other sectors where product reliability and material performance are essential.
Commenting on the development, Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries Limited, said, “This development order from Gun Factory Kanpur is an important milestone in our expanding contribution to India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. Our ongoing participation in the M777 ultra-lightweight howitzer programme has strengthened our expertise in advanced artillery applications, and this order further broadens our engagement with indigenous artillery platforms. We remain committed to supporting India’s vision of self-reliance in defence manufacturing through advanced engineering and world-class manufacturing capabilities.”
Artillery systems demand components capable of withstanding intense mechanical stress, extreme operating environments, and sustained operational use. Manufacturing such components requires advanced metallurgical knowledge, rigorous quality control, precision machining, and disciplined production processes. The new order highlights PTC Industries’ capability to meet these complex technical requirements while supporting the development of indigenous defence platforms.
The order is expected to create opportunities for the company to participate in future programmes involving larger and more sophisticated defence assemblies and sub-systems. It also aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives by strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities for strategic defence equipment.
With more than six decades of engineering expertise, PTC Industries manufactures high-performance materials, precision-engineered components, and advanced assemblies for aerospace, defence, space, and energy applications. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Aerolloy Technologies Limited, the company is expanding integrated manufacturing capabilities for titanium and superalloy products, including aerospace-grade ingots, billets, bars, rods, plates, and sheets.
The company is also strengthening its production infrastructure at the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, where it is developing advanced facilities to support the manufacture of high-performance materials and critical components for both domestic and global aerospace and defence markets. The latest order further reinforces PTC Industries’ long-term strategy of becoming a leading supplier of advanced manufacturing solutions for strategic sectors while contributing to India’s defence self-reliance objectives.
