Oben Electric, India’s R&D-driven electric motorcycle manufacturer, recorded 1,563 vehicle registrations in October 2026, retaining its No. 1 position in the country’s electric motorcycle segment, according to Vahan data. The performance reflects continued demand for the company’s Rorr Evo and its growing presence in India’s electric two-wheeler market.

Designed specifically for Indian riders, the Rorr Evo combines performance, design, technology, range and everyday usability. Its market traction reflects the company’s focus on developing electric motorcycles that address the requirements of mainstream motorcycle buyers in India.

Oben Electric’s product development and manufacturing capabilities are supported by a vertically integrated, R&D-driven ecosystem. The company develops critical electric vehicle technologies in-house, including LFP batteries, motors, Vehicle Control Units (VCUs), chargers and proprietary software. This approach allows it to maintain control over key components and technology while building products suited to Indian operating conditions.

The company operates a 3.5-acre manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with an annual production capacity of 1 lakh motorcycles. The facility supports its manufacturing operations and ongoing product development initiatives. Oben Electric is also expanding its retail and service network to reach customers across the country. It currently operates more than 150 showrooms and dedicated Oben Care service centres across over 90 cities in 18 states. The company plans to increase its network to 200 exclusive showrooms by the end of FY27, strengthening customer access and after-sales support.

Founded in August 2020, Oben Electric specialises in designing, developing and manufacturing electric motorcycles and critical EV components in India. Its team brings more than 25 years of collective hands-on experience in electric vehicle research and development. The company operates with the vision of “Design in India for the World”.

Oben Electric has focused on the use of advanced battery technologies, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, in electric two-wheelers. The company states that this technology offers enhanced safety, longer range and cleaner operation compared with other widely used battery chemistries. It also holds more than 25 patents covering its proprietary technology and EV components.

With India being the world’s largest motorcycle market, Oben Electric aims to expand the adoption of electric motorcycles domestically and build a presence in international markets. Its focus remains on product development, manufacturing capabilities and a wider customer network as it pursues its ambition of becoming a leading global electric motorcycle manufacturer.
