NATCO Pharma Limited (BSE: 524816; NSE: NATCOPHARM) has announced the launch of its generic Semaglutide injection in India, marking its entry into the GLP-1 therapy segment on the first day of patent expiry. The company will introduce the product in multi-dose vial format, offering a more accessible treatment option for patients with type 2 diabetes.

NATCO received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) in February 2026 to manufacture and market generic Semaglutide in both multi-dose vials and pen devices, following a clinical comparison study. The medication is prescribed for adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes, to be used alongside diet and exercise.

The company will market the multi-dose vials under the brand names SEMANAT™ and SEMAFULL™, available in strengths of 2 mg/1.5 ml, 4 mg/3 ml, and 8 mg/3 ml. The monthly cost for the 2 mg/1.5 ml and 4 mg/3 ml variants has been set at ₹1,290, while the 8 mg/3 ml strength is priced at ₹1,750 per month.

NATCO is the first company in India to introduce Semaglutide in a multi-dose vial format, accompanied by customised syringes to support convenient administration. In addition to direct marketing, the company plans to collaborate with partners for co-marketing to expand reach across the country.

A pen device version of the product is also planned for launch in April 2026. The pen format will be priced at ₹4,000, ₹4,200, and ₹4,500 per month for the respective strengths of 2 mg/1.5 ml, 4 mg/3 ml, and 8 mg/3 ml.

With this launch, NATCO aims to improve affordability and access to GLP-1 therapy in India. The multi-dose vial option is priced significantly lower than existing delivery formats, offering nearly 70 percent cost savings compared to pen devices and up to 90 percent reduction versus the innovator product.

By introducing a cost-effective alternative, the company seeks to address a key barrier in diabetes care—long-term treatment adherence. Improved affordability is expected to enable more patients to initiate and continue therapy, supporting better disease management outcomes. Headquartered in Hyderabad, NATCO Pharma Limited develops, manufactures and markets generic and branded pharmaceuticals, specialty medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients and crop protection products. The company operates nine manufacturing facilities and two research and development centers in India.

NATCO’s manufacturing sites are approved by global regulatory authorities including the US FDA, Brazil’s ANVISA, Health Canada and the World Health Organization. Its products are distributed in more than 50 international markets, with a strong focus on oncology and targeted therapies.
