Montra Electric, the electric commercial vehicle brand of TI Clean Mobility Private Limited, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under the Government of India’s initiative supporting the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) policy for replacing ageing trucks and buses in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The agreements, signed by Montra Electric’s e-Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (eMHCV) and e-Small Commercial Vehicle (eSCV) businesses in New Delhi, reinforce the company’s commitment to advancing clean commercial mobility and supporting the country’s transition to low-emission transportation. The NCRPB policy is aimed at phasing out older, high-emission commercial vehicles operating across the region and replacing them with cleaner alternatives. The initiative seeks to improve air quality by encouraging the adoption of zero-emission electric commercial vehicles while contributing to India’s long-term decarbonisation and sustainable mobility goals.

Under the MoUs, Montra Electric will work closely with eligible fleet operators and transport businesses by providing electric commercial vehicle solutions that meet the requirements of the replacement programme. The company will leverage its expanding product portfolio to support customers shifting from conventional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric mobility.

Montra Electric has developed a comprehensive range of purpose-built electric commercial vehicles catering to multiple transport applications. Its portfolio includes the RHINO series of medium and heavy-duty electric trucks, designed for demanding freight operations, and the EVIATOR electric small commercial truck, developed for last-mile and urban logistics. The company also offers electric three-wheelers, electric tractors and other clean mobility solutions, enabling it to address a wide spectrum of commercial transportation requirements.

The government’s vehicle replacement programme is expected to play a significant role in reducing emissions from legacy diesel-powered commercial vehicles operating in the NCR, one of India’s most pollution-affected regions. By encouraging the adoption of electric trucks, the initiative is expected to support cleaner freight movement, lower operating emissions and strengthen the ecosystem for electric commercial vehicles.
