Montra Electric, the clean mobility brand from the Murugappa Group, has announced the rollout of its 1,000th EVIATOR electric small commercial vehicle from its manufacturing facility in Ponneri, Chennai, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion within India’s electric cargo mobility market. The achievement reflects the growing adoption of electric small commercial vehicles across sectors such as e-commerce, FMCG, retail distribution and last-mile delivery, where fleet operators are increasingly shifting towards cleaner and more cost-efficient transportation solutions.

The milestone also follows the recent expansion of the EVIATOR product range with the launch of the EVIATOR 350 featuring a 32 kWh battery pack and the EVIATOR 350L+ equipped with a 50 kWh battery configuration. With these additions, Montra Electric aims to address a broader range of logistics and cargo transportation requirements across urban and intra-city operations.

Designed specifically for high-utilisation logistics applications, the EVIATOR platform focuses on operational efficiency, higher uptime and improved ownership economics for fleet operators. The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 1.7 tonnes along with a 10.3-foot loading deck, enabling efficient handling of high-volume cargo movement within city environments.

Powered by a liquid-cooled Lithium Iron Phosphate battery system, the EVIATOR delivers a real-world driving range of more than 170 kilometres, making it suitable for intensive day-to-day logistics operations. The vehicle also supports CCS2 DC fast charging technology, enabling up to 80 percent charging in nearly 60 minutes. With a top speed of 80 kilometres per hour, the electric cargo vehicle has been developed to support time-sensitive delivery operations and modern supply chain requirements.

Commenting on the milestone, Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric, said the rollout of the 1,000th EVIATOR represents an important step in the company’s growth journey and demonstrates increasing market confidence in electric small commercial vehicles.

He noted that the milestone gains greater significance because it has been achieved through deployment across varied real-world logistics applications and operational environments. According to Gupta, the company remains focused on developing mobility solutions that combine advanced technology with practical utility while improving fleet uptime and operational returns for customers.

Saju Nair, Chief Executive Officer of Montra Electric’s e-SCV business, stated that the achievement validates the EVIATOR platform’s reliability and performance under demanding logistics conditions. He added that the expanded product portfolio positions the company to cater to diverse customer requirements while supporting businesses in improving fleet efficiency, utilisation and total cost of ownership. Priced from ₹14.58 lakh ex-showroom under an introductory offer, the Montra Electric EVIATOR has been positioned as a scalable and technology-driven solution for businesses transitioning towards electric fleets.

Montra Electric operates under TI Clean Mobility Private Limited and forms part of the Murugappa Group, one of India’s oldest and most diversified industrial conglomerates with a legacy spanning over 125 years. The group has a strong presence across engineering, agriculture, financial services and manufacturing sectors.

The company currently operates across four business verticals including heavy commercial vehicles, small and mid-sized commercial vehicles, electric three-wheelers and electric tractors. Its growing electric mobility portfolio includes products such as the RHINO electric truck trailer, the SUPER AUTO passenger vehicle, the SUPER CARGO delivery vehicle and the E-27 electric tractor.

Industry experts believe the electric cargo mobility segment in India is witnessing rapid growth due to increasing pressure on businesses to reduce operating costs, improve sustainability and comply with evolving environmental regulations. Demand from e-commerce, retail and urban logistics companies is expected to further accelerate adoption of electric commercial vehicles over the coming years.

With the rollout of its 1,000th EVIATOR, Montra Electric is strengthening its presence in the fast-growing electric commercial vehicle market while supporting India’s broader transition toward cleaner transportation solutions.
