Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has launched its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, an AI-ready interface designed to connect directly with compatible AI tools and large language models. The MCP Server allows embedded engineers to retrieve verified, up-to-date Microchip product information—including specifications, datasheets, inventory status, pricing, and lead times—simply through conversational queries.
Using MCP streamable HTTP standards, the server delivers context-rich, JSON-encoded responses tailored for AI clients such as copilots, chatbots, LLM-based IDEs, and enterprise AI agents. This integration brings Microchip’s public data directly into development workflows and intelligent assistant platforms.
Rich Simoncic, chief operating officer at Microchip Technology, said the launch reinforces the company’s focus on AI-enabled engineering tools. He emphasized that providing instant access to authenticated product data within commonly used AI platforms helps eliminate friction and enhances the design experience.
With accurate technical information and sourcing details available on demand, the MCP Server boosts design efficiency, strengthens automation workflows and supports engineers in making faster, more informed decisions. With a strong focus on developing total system solutions across industrial, automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace, defense, communications, and computing markets, Microchip’s investment positions the company to meet evolving global semiconductor demands while contributing to India’s growing role in the high-tech manufacturing and design ecosystem.
