Maruti Suzuki India Limited has established an Advanced Manufacturing Lab (AML) at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Hassangarh, Rohtak, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen industry-aligned skill development under the Government of India’s Skill India mission. The initiative is aimed at preparing students for evolving requirements in the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors through structured, hands-on training.

The lab has been designed to simulate real shop-floor conditions found in modern manufacturing environments. It provides practical exposure in key automotive production domains such as assembly operations, welding processes, painting techniques, machining practices, mechatronics systems, and industrial safety protocols. By integrating experiential learning with technical instruction, the facility is intended to improve employability and bridge the gap between academic curricula and industry expectations.

In the first year of operations, approximately 200 students at Government ITI Hassangarh are expected to undergo training at the facility. The programme forms part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader CSR-led skilling initiative, which focuses on creating a future-ready workforce for India’s manufacturing ecosystem. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sachin Gupta, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak, along with senior representatives from Maruti Suzuki and the ITI administration.

Speaking on the initiative, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the Advanced Manufacturing Lab brings real production-line learning into the classroom environment. He noted that the initiative is designed to build technical confidence among students and prepare them for industry-specific roles in modern manufacturing systems, supporting India’s long-term skilling objectives.

Sachin Gupta, IAS, highlighted that the establishment of the lab represents a significant step toward transforming Rohtak into a centre for skill development excellence. He stated that access to advanced training infrastructure will help students acquire job-ready competencies and contribute to India’s broader vision of industrial growth and self-reliance. During the event, offer letters were also distributed to selected students who will join Maruti Suzuki as apprentices after completing their training programmes, further strengthening the industry linkage component of the initiative.

Maruti Suzuki currently supports 31 ITIs across India in manufacturing-related trades and has established 18 Advanced Manufacturing Labs nationwide under its CSR initiatives. In addition, the company operates four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIMs) in Gujarat and Haryana, developed in collaboration with the Government of Japan, to promote globally benchmarked manufacturing skills and practices.
