Maruti Suzuki India Limited has crossed 50,000 units in cumulative exports of its Made-in-India electric vehicle since beginning global shipments in August 2025. The milestone reinforces the company’s position as a leading exporter of electric passenger vehicles from India and highlights the country’s growing manufacturing capabilities.

Europe was the first region to receive Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicles and continues to be the company’s largest export market. The vehicles are now shipped to nearly 50 countries, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Maruti Suzuki was India’s largest electric vehicle exporter in FY2025–26 and retained its leadership position during April–September FY2026–27, accounting for nearly 93% of the country’s electric passenger vehicle exports during the period.

Commenting on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki’s EV export journey began in August 2025 when the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, commemorated the start of production of the e VITARA at the Hansalpur facility, for sale in over 100 countries. At the same event, he hailed Maruti Suzuki as a brand ambassador of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Today, Maruti Suzuki exports EVs to nearly 50 of these countries, with Europe being the largest destination. In April–September 2026, Maruti Suzuki accounted for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports. This milestone reflects India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and its growing competitiveness.”

Maruti Suzuki has been India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years and accounted for more than 50% of the country’s passenger vehicle exports during April–September 2026. The company currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries, strengthening India’s role in global automotive supply chains.

The Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat is central to the company’s electric vehicle export operations. It is the exclusive production base for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA. The facility has recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million vehicles, becoming the first Suzuki manufacturing location worldwide to achieve this scale at a single site.

With cumulative investment of ₹25,288.7 crore, Hansalpur also serves as a major export hub, accounting for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s overall overseas shipments in FY2025–26. The company’s electric vehicle export milestone reflects its focus on manufacturing in India for global markets and expanding the international reach of its automotive products.
