Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited has announced the commissioning of its second pellet plant at Konsari, Maharashtra, adding 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to its production capacity. The project has been completed within 16 months from the start of construction, marking a significant achievement in execution speed and operational planning.

With the addition of the new facility, the company’s total pellet production capacity at Konsari now stands at 8 MTPA. The first pellet plant at the site is already operating at full capacity, reflecting strong demand and efficient utilization of assets. This expansion further strengthens the company’s position in the iron ore and steel value chain.

The pellet plants are supported by a fully integrated raw material supply system. Iron ore is sourced from the company’s captive mines located in Surjagarh, Gadchiroli, and transported through an 85-kilometre slurry pipeline commissioned in 2025. This infrastructure enables uninterrupted material flow and enhances cost efficiency across operations.

A key advantage of the company’s resource base is the low-alumina content of its iron ore, which allows the production of high-quality pellets. These premium-grade pellets are well-regarded in both domestic and international markets, contributing to improved realizations and stronger market positioning.

The commissioning of the second plant represents a major step in the company’s strategy to build a fully integrated, end-to-end steel production ecosystem. By aligning mining, logistics, and processing capabilities, Lloyds Metals aims to create a scalable and resilient operational framework that can support long-term growth.

The company highlighted that the project reflects its focus on disciplined execution, efficient capital deployment, and operational reliability. The rapid completion timeline also demonstrates its ability to deliver complex industrial infrastructure within defined schedules.

Looking ahead, Lloyds Metals continues to focus on expanding its asset base while maintaining cost competitiveness and operational efficiency. The company’s long-term approach is centered on leveraging its resource advantages and infrastructure capabilities to meet rising demand in India’s steel sector. Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) is an Indian company primarily engaged in the business of iron and steel, with a strong focus on mining, sponge iron, and power generation. Headquartered in Maharashtra, the company has established itself as a key player in the iron ore mining sector, operating large-scale mines and integrated steel manufacturing facilities.

Its operations span across mining iron ore, producing sponge iron, and generating captive power, enabling it to maintain a competitive edge in the steel value chain. In recent years, Lloyds Metals has been expanding its mining capacity and strengthening its backward integration to ensure consistent raw material supply for its steel operations. The company is also increasingly focusing on sustainable practices and efficiency improvements to meet the rising demand for steel in India’s infrastructure and industrial growth.
