LAPP, a global supplier of cable and connectivity solutions, has inaugurated a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The expansion has made LAPP Cable Works Bhopal the largest manufacturing facility in the company’s global production network.
The latest investment has added a new state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing Power Low Voltage (LV) cables. These cables are widely used in factories, commercial buildings, transportation systems, renewable energy projects, utility infrastructure and other industrial applications. Construction of the new unit began in 2025 and the facility is now fully operational. The investment comes at a time when India is witnessing strong growth in infrastructure, manufacturing and renewable energy. Rising investments in these sectors are expected to increase demand for reliable power cable and connectivity solutions.
“Ultimately, this investment is about our customers. Following our ‘In India for India’ strategy, we are improving our capabilities to support their growth with locally manufactured, high-quality connectivity solutions. We deeply believe in India as a strategic core market for LAPP in Asia and Madhya Pradesh as a manufacturing location,” said Matthias Lapp, CEO of LAPP Group.
LAPP has steadily expanded its Bhopal operations since the plant began production in 2012. The facility initially manufactured single-core cables and later added multicore cables, solar cables, compounding capabilities and E-Beam technology. The Bhopal plant now supports more than 200 quality manufacturing jobs and houses several advanced production technologies. Its in-house polymer compounding capabilities allow LAPP to develop specialised polymer blends while maintaining greater control over cable quality, consistency and performance.
The facility’s E-Beam technology modifies cable materials at the molecular level, helping improve durability, thermal resistance and long-term reliability for demanding applications. The expansion is also significant as LAPP India celebrates its 30th anniversary. India has become LAPP’s largest market after Germany and is an important growth market for the company in Asia.
LAPP India, headquartered in Bengaluru, has around 500 employees and operates manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Bhopal and Dharuhera. It serves customers across manufacturing, automation, infrastructure, railways, renewable energy, mobility and process industries.
Founded in 1959 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, LAPP provides cables, connectors, automation products, customised system solutions and other connectivity technologies. The family-owned company generated consolidated sales of EUR 1.93 billion in fiscal 2025 and employs around 5,700 people worldwide. It operates 27 manufacturing locations and has a presence in more than 80 countries.
