Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) has been awarded a new work order by Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) for excavation and dredging works at the Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo handling facilities in the Bunder Basin area. The contract, valued at ₹91.85 lakhs (inclusive of taxes), involves excavation and dredging near the South Wharf to support Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC) movement. The scope includes removal of sand, silt, clay, and mixed soils from designated Ro-Ro pockets, with disposal of the excavated material at a pre-identified location outside the port premises.

This order further reinforces DPA’s confidence in KMEW’s project delivery capabilities, particularly its ability to execute time-bound, phased works with precision. The company plans to utilize its in-house dredging fleet and equipment for the project, ensuring optimized asset usage and operational efficiency.

Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd, commented “This new work order further strengthens our relationship with Deendayal Port, one of India’s key maritime hubs. As we enter our second decade of operations, we remain focused on delivering high-quality marine infrastructure services. With our experienced team and well-equipped fleet, we are fully prepared to execute this challenging assignment with efficiency and professionalism.”

This win is aligned with KMEW’s strategy of expanding its footprint in core port infrastructure, improving asset utilization, and reinforcing its position as a trusted marine engineering service provider.

Founded in 2015, KMEW specializes in owning and operating marine crafts, dredging, ship repair and refits, and providing a range of marine engineering services. The company operates across multiple Indian ports and offers solutions including hydrographic surveys, technical support for vessel maintenance, and turnkey marine infrastructure projects.

Over the years, KMEW has transitioned from a small ship repair operation to a recognized ship-owning and dredging company. Its growing order book includes projects from esteemed clients such as the Ministry of External Affairs, Kolkata Port Trust, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Paradip Port Trust, and the Dredging Corporation of India, among others.
