John Crane introduces Performance Plus™, a modular service framework

Manufacturing-News

John Crane, a global provider of solutions for rotating equipment and part of Smiths Group plc, has introduced Performance Plus™, a new modular service framework aimed at enhancing operational performance and delivering verifiable improvements for industrial customers. Industry studies, including research from Deloitte, show that unexpected stoppages cost manufacturers tens of billions of dollars each year, with equipment-related failures responsible for a substantial share of those expenses. As companies face increasing demands to extend asset life, cut emissions, and meet tightening regulatory and sustainability standards, this launch represents a significant advancement in helping operators achieve smarter, safer, and more efficient operations.

Philippe Lambert, Vice President for Commercial and Service at John Crane, remarked that the company is transitioning from being a component supplier to becoming a performance-focused partner committed to driving measurable improvements across the full lifecycle of customer assets. He emphasized that the goal is to raise uptime, reinforce safety, and reduce both environmental impact and total operating cost.

In comments relating to the Indian market, Satish Ingavale, Managing Director for John Crane India, noted that industries in the country are rapidly adopting digital technologies, renewable integration, and sustainable production practices. He explained that Performance Plus™ will support refineries, energy producers, and process industries in deploying predictive maintenance and real-time monitoring to cut downtime, improve energy usage, and strengthen long-term asset reliability. He reaffirmed John Crane’s dedication to collaborating with Indian industry as it shifts toward cleaner, smarter, and more resilient operating models.

The new framework is supported by a global network of engineers operating from more than 200 facilities across 50 nations, combining regional knowledge with international experience to create service strategies tailored to each customer’s needs. The approach integrates data-driven monitoring, expert consultation, and hands-on training to improve reliability, reduce operational disruptions, and build long-term resilience. A key element of the program is the company’s Seal Reliability Management agreements—long-term service partnerships that enable continuous reliability enhancement and predictable maintenance planning through proactive seal monitoring and support.

John Crane’s digital tools, including its Sense® Turbo diagnostics technology, have already logged more than one million hours of active remote monitoring in live industrial environments, demonstrating the value of predictive insights and digital innovation in turbomachinery performance. Alongside these technologies, the company’s specialists offer practical, evidence-based guidance to help operators navigate complex maintenance decisions and make quicker, more sustainable choices. The framework also incorporates training and capability-building initiatives designed to ensure customer teams can maintain high standards of performance, safety, and efficiency over time.

Commenting further, Philippe Lambert noted that service in today’s industrial landscape must be holistic rather than fragmented, and that Performance Plus™ brings together intelligent technology, data-driven insight, and human expertise to keep facilities running dependably, safely, and sustainably—setting a new benchmark for service excellence in the modern era.
