Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, has been recognised with the ‘Significant Achievement in HR Excellence’ distinction at the 16th CII National HR Excellence Award Confluence 2025–26. The honour acknowledges the company’s sustained efforts to strengthen people-focused practices and align its human resource systems with long-term business priorities.

The award was presented during the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) award ceremony held in Mumbai on March 11, 2026. The recognition places Jindal Stainless among a select group of organisations acknowledged for building strong human capital frameworks and fostering progressive workplace practices.

The award was received by Sushil Baveja, Chief Human Resource Officer, along with Rajeev Ranjan, Vice President – HR; Anand Pachouri, Head of Learning and Development; and Vedika Arya, Associate Manager and HR Business Partner at Jindal Stainless. The recognition was presented by Sanjay Behl, Chairman of the CII National Committee on Leadership and HR and Chief Operating Officer and Joint President at Adani Cement.

Commenting on the recognition, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, said that the company’s progress and success are closely linked to the strength and commitment of its people. He noted that the honour reflects the organisation’s continued investment in creating a workplace environment where employees are encouraged to learn, innovate and grow.

According to Mr Jindal, the company has consistently prioritised initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, encourage leadership development and support a culture of collaboration and innovation. The recognition from CII, he added, reinforces the company’s resolve to further strengthen these initiatives while enabling employees to contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s growth journey.

Sushil Baveja, Chief Human Resource Officer at Jindal Stainless, said the CII HR Excellence framework is widely regarded as a comprehensive benchmark for evaluating organisational HR practices. Achieving the ‘Significant Achievement’ category, he said, reflects the collective work of teams across the company in building robust people-management systems.

Mr Baveja highlighted that the company’s HR strategy focuses on developing leadership capabilities, expanding learning opportunities and encouraging employees to experiment and innovate within their roles. He also emphasised the importance of creating a sense of community and promoting inclusive growth across the workforce.

The CII HR Excellence Awards are based on the CII HR Excellence Model, a detailed framework used to assess how organisations design and implement their human resource strategies. The evaluation process involves multiple assessors and includes an extensive review of an organisation’s HR policies, leadership approach and operational outcomes.

Each participating organisation undergoes a rigorous assessment that typically involves between 250 and 300 hours of evaluation. The process also includes a five-day on-site assessment in which evaluators interact with employees, examine HR systems and review organisational practices across multiple areas.

Jindal Stainless underwent its on-site assessment in December 2025. During the evaluation, the company’s HR practices were reviewed across several key pillars including leadership, HR strategy, learning and development, employee engagement, and the effectiveness of HR processes and systems. The evaluation also examined the results of initiatives implemented by the company over recent years.

Founded in 1970, Jindal Stainless has grown into India’s leading stainless steel producer with a strong international presence. The company reported an annual turnover of ₹40,182 crore (USD 4.75 billion) in FY25 and is expanding its production facilities to achieve an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes by FY27.

Jindal Stainless operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India and overseas, including locations in Spain and Indonesia, and maintains a global network spanning 12 countries. Within India, the company operates ten sales offices and six service centres.

Its product portfolio includes stainless steel slabs, blooms, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, wire rods, rebars, blade steel and coin blanks, serving industries ranging from infrastructure and mobility to consumer goods and industrial manufacturing. The company continues to emphasise sustainability in its operations, producing stainless steel using scrap-based electric arc furnace technology. This process reduces greenhouse gas emissions while enabling the material to be recycled repeatedly without compromising quality.
