Intel Corporation and Fortinet have announced a strategic collaboration to develop Fortinet’s next-generation Security Processor 6 (SP6), strengthening a long-standing partnership between the two technology companies. The collaboration is aimed at accelerating the development of advanced cybersecurity solutions while building a stronger and more resilient global semiconductor supply chain.

The partnership combines Fortinet’s expertise in custom-built security processors with Intel’s advanced semiconductor design, packaging and manufacturing capabilities. Together, the companies will develop a high-performance security processor designed to meet the growing demands of modern cybersecurity infrastructure.

As cyber threats continue to become more sophisticated, organizations require security platforms capable of delivering faster performance, greater efficiency and stronger protection. The new collaboration is expected to help Fortinet introduce advanced security technologies more quickly while benefiting from Intel’s manufacturing expertise and global production capabilities.

The Security Processor 6 will combine Fortinet’s proprietary application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology with Intel’s extensive semiconductor intellectual property portfolio, advanced chip design capabilities and innovative packaging technologies. The processor is being developed to support increasingly complex security services while delivering the high performance required by enterprises, cloud environments and large-scale digital infrastructure.

Lip-Bu Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Intel, said the collaboration highlights how advanced semiconductor technology can support innovation in cybersecurity. He noted that Intel’s design expertise, manufacturing capabilities and global supply chain network will help accelerate the development of critical security technologies while strengthening supply chain resilience for customers worldwide.

Fortinet has relied on custom-built security processors for more than two decades to improve the speed, efficiency and effectiveness of its cybersecurity products. These processors have played a significant role in enhancing network security, reducing latency and enabling faster threat detection across enterprise environments.

Ken Xie, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fortinet, said the expanded relationship with Intel will strengthen the company’s long-term ASIC strategy by combining Fortinet’s experience in purpose-built security processors with Intel’s semiconductor leadership. He added that the partnership will help accelerate innovation, improve product performance and support customers with reliable cybersecurity solutions backed by a diversified global supply chain.

Beyond the development of Security Processor 6, Intel and Fortinet plan to explore additional opportunities in semiconductor technologies, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity infrastructure. The companies expect the collaboration to support future product development, improve system performance and expand cybersecurity capabilities for businesses operating in increasingly complex digital environments. The partnership also reflects the growing importance of secure and resilient semiconductor supply chains as organizations continue to invest in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital transformation initiatives.

Intel is one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, designing and manufacturing advanced processors and computing technologies that power modern digital infrastructure. Fortinet is a global cybersecurity leader, serving more than half a million customers worldwide with an integrated portfolio of enterprise security solutions. The company’s technologies help protect networks, devices, applications and data while supporting organizations in strengthening their cyber resilience against evolving security threats.
