East West Freight Carriers Limited (EWFCL) announced that the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR), Hyderabad, Telangana, has decided to extend its logistics service contract through December 31, 2025. This decision follows the institute’s recognition of the outstanding logistics support provided by EWFCL during the initial contract period.

CSIR, one of India’s oldest and most respected national research organizations, entrusted EWFCL with comprehensive services including customs clearance, freight forwarding, and allied logistics. The contract extension is projected to generate an additional revenue of approximately ₹50 lakhs for the company. Mohammed Ajaz Shafi, Managing Director and CEO of EWFCL, stated, “We are pleased to share this news, which reflects the high standards of logistics services delivered by our team.”

Established in 1976, East West Freight Carriers Limited has been a key player in India’s freight forwarding and logistics sector for over 47 years. The company offers end-to-end logistics solutions, leveraging advanced technology and a dedicated team to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.

EWFCL holds memberships with key industry associations such as IATA, FIATA, FFFAI, ACCAI, DACCAI, BCBA, and FIEO. The company partners with major global airlines and shipping lines to provide competitive pricing, reliable transit times, and fixed allocations across key trade routes.

With a professional network available around the clock, EWFCL ensures timely, cost-effective delivery tailored to client needs, whether for air freight, full container loads (FCL), less than container loads (LCL), or complex project cargo involving oversized or high-value equipment.

East West Freight Carriers Limited (EWFCL) is an Indian logistics and freight-forwarding company, headquartered in Mumbai. Established in 1979 (incorporated as a public company in December 1979) it has built a presence in the air, ocean, road and rail freight markets. According to its own website, the company offers a “single-window solution to manage and transport freight” and provides services such as air freight, ocean freight, road and rail transport, project cargo, pharma-logistics (temperature-controlled), customs-brokerage, courier consolidation and smart warehousing.

With a network of 14 branches in India and more than 180 global associates in over 65 countries, the company positions itself as a full-spectrum logistics provider. While the company has been operating for over four decades and offers a wide range of services across multiple transport modes, it appears to face challenges in profitability and market valuation: for example, its share price has declined significantly from previous levels.
