Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd, announced a developing partnership with Supermicro, a global provider of IT hardware and computing infrastructure. The collaboration brings together Supermicro’s advanced compute and GPU systems with Hitachi Vantara’s unified storage platform, VSP One, to support organizations managing large-scale data operations and compute-heavy applications.

As part of the planned agreement, Supermicro will offer Hitachi’s VSP One to its customer base, while Hitachi Vantara will integrate Supermicro’s servers, GPUs, and storage hardware into its solutions. The goal is to help enterprises simplify data infrastructure, handle rapid data growth, and support the rising demand for compute resources tied to analytics and automation.

At the heart of the offering is VSP One, Hitachi Vantara’s storage platform that brings together file, block, object, and software-defined storage under one system. Combined with Supermicro hardware, this allows for faster access to data, improved system performance, and easier deployment across cloud and on-premise environments. For example, VSP One Block with Supermicro’s all-flash servers supports high-speed processing for time-sensitive tasks, while VSP One SDS enables flexible use across hybrid setups. VSP One Object, with built-in support for S3 Tables, gives organizations the ability to query data directly in place—without the need for complex extraction or duplication.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen Hitachi iQ, a solution suite focused on organizing, protecting, and processing data at scale. By combining compute, storage, and workflow tools into a cohesive system, the joint offering aims to streamline operations for businesses working with large datasets, complex reporting needs, or evolving regulatory demands.

Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, stated: “This partnership will help organizations manage growing data volumes more efficiently by bringing their compute and storage systems into alignment. It reflects our focus on building infrastructure that’s reliable, scalable, and ready for the next generation of data needs.”

Vik Malyala, President of EMEA and Senior VP of Technology and AI at Supermicro, added: “By combining our high-performance server technology with Hitachi’s data storage expertise, we’re enabling customers to run advanced workloads more effectively across industries.”

The joint offerings—including VSP One Block, SDS, and Object—will be available through global sales and channel networks. Partners will gain access to a broader portfolio of solutions, with integrated tools for system management through VSP 360, which offers real-time monitoring of capacity, performance, and overall system health.
