Hindustan Zinc (BSE: 500188, NSE: HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s leading integrated zinc producer, has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to shaping the future through education, skills, and inclusive learning. Through its flagship initiatives — Nand Ghar, Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan, and Jeevan Tarang — the company has positively impacted the lives of over 10 lakh children across its operational regions in the last five years.
Education has always been at the heart of Hindustan Zinc’s community development vision. Under its Shiksha Sambal programme, the company supports more than 35,000 students in 140 schools, focusing on strengthening foundational learning in Science, Mathematics, and English. So far, 30,984 classes have been conducted to enhance comprehension and academic performance, resulting in an impressive 95% pass rate in Class 10 board exams. Notably, 23 out of 66 schools achieved a perfect 100% success rate. The company has also established four STEM labs in Udaipur and Pantnagar, developed 26 model schools, and renovated 10 schools, creating modern and engaging learning spaces.
“Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream without limits,” said Arun Misra, CEO & Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc. “Our education initiatives go beyond textbooks — they aim to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and develop capability. As we celebrate Education Day and approach Children’s Day, I urge everyone to continue empowering young minds that will shape India’s future with knowledge and inclusivity.”
Expanding beyond school education, the Unchi Udaan programme offers promising students from rural and tribal communities the opportunity to pursue higher education at India’s premier institutes. To date, 150 students have secured admission to top engineering and government colleges, including IITs, with all passing in first division. Among them, 32 graduates have been placed with leading organisations, achieving an average annual package of ₹10 lakh, with the highest reaching ₹21 lakh, reflecting the programme’s strong focus on mentorship and excellence.
For children with special needs, Hindustan Zinc’s Jeevan Tarang initiative, launched in 2017, continues to drive inclusion and empowerment. More than 2,600 children with disabilities have benefited from Indian Sign Language awareness sessions, mental health and hygiene workshops, and pre-vocational training that builds independence and confidence. The programme operates across Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Udaipur, ensuring equitable access to education for children of all abilities.
As part of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, Nand Ghars — modernised Anganwadis established in partnership with ICDS — are redefining early childhood care and women’s empowerment. Built on four key pillars — nutrition, education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment — these centres feature digital learning tools, solar power, safe drinking water, and healthcare linkages. Within Hindustan Zinc’s operational areas, nearly 2,000 Nand Ghars are nurturing early learning, healthier mothers, and empowered rural women, collectively benefiting around 3.7 lakh women and children.
Recognising the role of sports in youth development, Hindustan Zinc also established the Zinc Football Academy at Zawar, Rajasthan — a first-of-its-kind residential facility to nurture grassroots football talent. The academy has already trained over 3,250 young athletes, many of whom have represented their districts, states, and even the nation, contributing to Rajasthan’s growing reputation in Indian football.
Hindustan Zinc’s continued investment in education and youth development underscores its broader mission of community transformation. By integrating initiatives that span from early learning to higher education and inclusivity, the company continues to ensure that every child — regardless of background or ability — has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential.
