Hindustan Zinc Secures Global and National Quality Certifications

Manufacturing-News

Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated producer of zinc and a leading global producer of silver, has further strengthened its standing in international markets by securing a wide range of respected global and domestic certifications. These include compliance under the European Union’s REACH regulations, certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards, and the internationally recognised London Bullion Market Association Good Delivery accreditation for silver, alongside several other globally aligned quality and process standards.

These certifications underscore the company’s consistent focus on delivering metals that meet the highest benchmarks for purity, safety, and performance. Supported by advanced digital quality monitoring systems, modern smelting technologies, and strict end-to-end process controls, Hindustan Zinc maintains a diversified product portfolio trusted by customers worldwide.

Its offerings include Special High Grade and High Grade zinc, Continuous Galvanising Grade zinc, zinc-based alloy ingots and billets for die casting applications, as well as LBMA-approved 99.99 percent pure silver bars and silver powder. These products are widely used across sectors such as automotive manufacturing, infrastructure development, renewable energy, electronics, construction, and consumer goods.

According to Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-Time Director of Hindustan Zinc, the company’s approach to quality extends far beyond compliance. He noted that excellence is embedded across operations, systems, and people, with a strong emphasis on prevention rather than correction. He added that the achievement of globally respected certifications reflects the organisation’s zero-defect philosophy and its ongoing efforts to elevate standards in quality, safety, sustainability, and responsible mining practices.

Beyond product excellence, Hindustan Zinc continues to align its operations with global climate and decarbonisation objectives. Its low-carbon zinc offering, EcoZen, is produced using renewable energy and validated through a comprehensive life-cycle assessment. With a carbon footprint of less than one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent per tonne of zinc, EcoZen delivers emissions that are nearly 75 percent lower than the global industry average, helping customers reduce their Scope 3 emissions and strengthen sustainable supply chains.

The company’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and ethical governance has also led to its induction into the International Council on Mining and Metals, making Hindustan Zinc the first Indian mining company to join this prestigious global body. Membership of the ICMM is reserved for organisations that demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and transparent governance. Operating across more than 40 countries, Hindustan Zinc continues to shape the future of responsible metals production through technology-driven quality systems, a growing portfolio of certifications, and a strong focus on long-term sustainable value creation.
