Hindustan Zinc Introduces ‘Zinc Moolya’ on Vedanta Metal Bazaar to Offer Live INR Pricing for MSMEs

On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, Hindustan Zinc Limited— the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the top five silver producers globally—announced the launch of ‘Zinc Moolya’, a Live INR Pricing feature on its flagship online metal platform, Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB). Developed to make metal pricing easier and more accessible, Zinc Moolya allows businesses across India—especially MSMEs and smaller buyers—to view, book and lock real-time zinc prices in Indian Rupees. These prices are linked with global benchmarks, ensuring transparency and helping enterprises make more informed purchase decisions.

Launched in 2022, Vedanta Metal Bazaar is India’s first digital metal marketplace, created to simplify and modernise the metal procurement process. The platform enables customers to access live prices, place orders, and complete transactions end-to-end with full transparency. Over time, VMB has gained strong traction among businesses nationwide, changing how metals are purchased in India through a fully digital experience.

With the addition of Zinc Moolya, the platform has been further strengthened. The feature provides live landed prices in INR, dynamically connected to the London Metal Exchange (LME), ensuring timely and accurate price discovery. Since fluctuations in the INR–USD exchange rate often make it difficult for MSMEs and mid-sized buyers to estimate raw material costs, Zinc Moolya helps address this challenge by offering pricing clarity directly in rupees.

The module supports a smooth online transaction process, while continuing to align with existing engagement models. It also offers greater flexibility to buyers looking for real-time price visibility, enabling faster purchasing decisions and improving competitiveness for emerging businesses.

Speaking on the launch, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said “India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat will be realised when access, transparency and opportunity are available equally to every enterprise, regardless of size. With the introduction of Zinc Moolya on Vedanta Metal Bazaar, we are fundamentally reshaping how metals are bought in India by removing entry barriers that have traditionally favoured scale. This platform gives MSMEs and small buyers the same real-time price discovery and decision-making power as large institutions, anchored in global benchmarks yet transacted seamlessly in Indian Rupees. At Hindustan Zinc, we see digital innovation as a nation-building tool…one that strengthens trust, improves competitiveness, and enables India’s manufacturing ecosystem to grow with confidence and resilience.”

By improving access to clear and transparent pricing, Zinc Moolya strengthens India’s manufacturing and export ecosystem. It will help small and medium enterprises plan better, stay competitive in global markets, and contribute to economic growth. The initiative supports the larger Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by improving trust in commodity procurement and reducing information gaps in the market.

Hindustan Zinc’s product portfolio includes LME-registered products such as Special High-Grade Zinc, High-Grade Zinc, EcoZen (low-carbon green zinc), Prime Western Zinc, Continuous Galvanizing Grade Zinc, High-Grade Jumbo Zinc, and die-casting alloys (Alloy 3 and Alloy 5), along with Special High-Grade Lead. As a fully integrated mine-to-metal producer, the company ensures strong supply reliability and uninterrupted deliveries to global customers.

Supplying to over 40 countries, Hindustan Zinc focuses on customer-centric innovation and certified quality, including Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) verification, BIS certification, and REACH compliance for exports to Europe. The launch of Zinc Moolya on Republic Day reflects Hindustan Zinc’s focus on strengthening a digitally enabled, self-reliant India by improving transparency, accessibility and efficiency in the metals procurement process, while supporting sustainable industrial development.
