Hi-Tech Pipes Limited (BSE: 543411), one of India’s leading producers of steel pipes, tubes, and value-added steel products, has commenced work on its new Greenfield Manufacturing Project at Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh, located near Bengaluru. The foundation stone was laid by N Chandrababu Naidu Garu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, marking a key milestone in both the company’s growth strategy and the state’s industrial development roadmap.
The new facility represents a critical step in Hi-Tech Pipes’ long-term vision of achieving a total production capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Focused on manufacturing high-value coated steel products — a fast-growing and strategically important business segment — the Hindupur project will have an installed capacity of 1,50,000 tonnes per annum. The total investment of approximately ₹100 crore will be funded entirely through internal accruals, reflecting the company’s robust financial health and operational discipline.
Strategically positioned within the industrial corridor of Hindupur, the facility will serve customers across southern and western India, offering improved logistics, faster delivery timelines, and enhanced customer proximity. The project is slated for completion by Q2 FY28, and upon commissioning, will strengthen Hi-Tech Pipes’ capacity, scale, and product diversification.
Currently, the company operates at an installed capacity of 0.75 MTPA, which is running near peak utilization at 66%. Ongoing expansion projects — both brownfield and greenfield — are expected to add 0.30 MTPA by Q3 FY26, further advancing the company’s capacity enhancement roadmap.
Ajay Kumar Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Hi-Tech Pipes Limited, stated “The foundation laying of our Hindupur Greenfield Manufacturing Project is a defining milestone in our journey toward the 2 MTPA capacity target. This project represents not just an expansion of production scale but a move toward higher value creation through advanced coated steel products and innovation. We are deeply grateful to N Chandrababu Naidu Garu for gracing the ceremony and for fostering an industrial environment conducive to long-term investments. The Hindupur facility will play a crucial role in expanding our southern market presence, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving sustainable growth for all our stakeholders.”
