Helionis Labs, a materials technology startup focused on thermal management solutions for high-power electronics, has raised an undisclosed pre-seed funding round from Transition VC. The investment will support the company’s efforts to accelerate product development, expand engineering capabilities, establish pilot-scale manufacturing, and advance certification and reliability testing programs.
The funding comes at a time when thermal performance is becoming a critical requirement across industries deploying increasingly compact and power-intensive electronic systems. Applications such as electric vehicles, telecom equipment, industrial automation, power electronics, and advanced lighting solutions are generating higher thermal loads, creating growing demand for more efficient heat dissipation technologies.
India’s electronics manufacturing sector has expanded rapidly in recent years, yet a significant portion of critical thermal materials and substrate technologies continues to be sourced from overseas suppliers. This dependency has created opportunities for domestic innovation aimed at strengthening supply chains and improving technology self-reliance.
Helionis Labs is addressing this challenge through the development of proprietary printable dielectric materials and a specialized additive manufacturing process for producing high-performance Insulated Metal Substrates (IMS). The company’s technology is engineered to provide superior thermal conductivity, thinner dielectric layers, and improved manufacturing economics compared with conventional Metal Core Printed Circuit Boards (MCPCBs).
Founded by materials scientist Tarun Jha, Helionis Labs combines expertise in advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and power electronics. Its solutions are currently being developed for use in industrial and automotive lighting systems, horticulture equipment, EV power electronics, telecom power supplies, and industrial power applications.
“Thermal management has become one of the defining challenges for modern electronics,” said Tarun Jha, Founder and CEO of Helionis Labs. “As devices become more powerful and compact, efficient heat dissipation directly influences performance, reliability, and lifespan. We have developed a platform that combines advanced materials with scalable manufacturing techniques to create products that can compete globally while being designed and manufactured in India.”
According to Transition VC, the investment reflects growing interest in foundational technologies that can support India’s industrial and energy-transition ambitions. The firm believes Helionis’ ability to develop both the dielectric material stack and the manufacturing process internally creates a strong competitive position in a market traditionally dominated by international suppliers.
