Healthium Medtech, a global medical devices company spanning surgical, post-surgical, wound care, arthroscopy and infection prevention solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB). The agreement paves the way for the establishment of Healthium Medtech Unit 2 on a 5-acre plot in Sri City Industrial Park, supported by an investment of ₹150 crore to be rolled out in two stages.
The upcoming facility adds to Healthium’s long-standing presence in Sri City, where the company began operations in 2012 at its SEZ plant. The existing unit produces sutures and meshes, and the addition of Unit 2 reinforces Sri City’s emergence as a competitive centre for medical device manufacturing.
The project is expected to generate around 300 direct jobs by 2027, along with nearly 100 indirect positions across logistics, supply chain, services and ancillary activities. The expansion comes at a time when India’s medtech industry is on track to reach USD 30 billion by 2030, underscoring the need for sophisticated manufacturing capabilities and skilled talent. By broadening its production platform across surgical, post-surgical and chronic care product lines, the new unit will contribute to workforce development and open long-term career avenues in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on the partnership, Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director of HealthiumMedtech, said, “With our expanding portfolio and the growing need for a stronger manufacturing backbone, Sri City is a natural choice. The region offers industrial maturity, an available talent pool and strong connectivity, enabling us to scale efficiently and strengthen our integrated supply chain. This expansion supports our mission to deliver dependable, high-quality, ‘Made in India’ medical devices to patients worldwide.”
Sudeep Dhariwal, Group CFO of Healthium Medtech, added, “This investment reflects a thoughtful approach to long-term capacity building. Consolidating our presence in Sri City helps optimise costs, enhance operational efficiencies and prepare for future market requirements. As the medtech sector evolves, robust infrastructure and skilled teams are key to maintaining competitiveness.”
CM Saikanth Varma, IAS, CEO of APEDB, noted, “This project further strengthens Sri City’s reputation as a preferred location for high-end medical device manufacturing. It deepens the ecosystem by attracting suppliers, supporting industries and new technologies, all vital for sustained competitiveness.”
Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder and Managing Director of Sri City, congratulated Healthium, stating, “The expansion highlights the strength of Sri City’s industrial ecosystem, where sectors grow, innovate and compete globally. It reinforces our vision of building a dynamic, efficient and future-ready manufacturing hub.”
