Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. (HAPL) has launched Go-Dhan, an initiative aimed at supporting dairy farmers in Odisha through improved access to institutional finance, government schemes, modern dairy practices and technology. The initiative was launched at a ceremony held at the OUAT Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. The event was attended by Prem Chand Chaudhary, Secretary, Department of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development, Government of Odisha, as Chief Guest; Shubhranshu, Managing Director, APICOL, as Guest of Honour; Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India; and RG Chandramogan, Chairman, Hatsun Agro Product Ltd.

Go-Dhan is planned to benefit 6,000 dairy farmers across 15 districts of Odisha. Under the initiative, farmers will receive support in accessing institutional finance and government assistance for investments in quality bovine breeds, cattle housing, farm mechanisation, animal nutrition and herd health.

The programme will also seek to facilitate access to government subsidy schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY). The initiative is designed to help farmers access capital for establishing or expanding dairy operations while promoting scientific farm management and productivity improvement.

Hatsun said the programme will support the establishment of more than 6,000 dairy farms over the next three years in a phased manner. The company will work with the Government of Odisha, APICOL, State Bank of India and dairy farmers as part of the initiative.

RG Chandramogan, Chairman, Hatsun Agro Product Ltd., said: “At Hatsun Agro Product Ltd., we have played a significant role in the development of the dairy sector and animal husbandry across South India for decades. Our journey has always been guided by the belief that the prosperity of dairy farmers is the foundation of a strong and sustainable dairy industry.”

“Through the Go-Dhan initiative, we aim to support the establishment of more than 6,000 dairy farms, over the next three years in a phased manner. This initiative is designed to improve farmer incomes, encourage scientific dairy farming, and create a sustainable dairy ecosystem in Odisha.” Mr Chandramogan said the company aims to develop a dairy value chain in Odisha by producing and procuring milk within the state. The milk would cater to demand in Odisha as well as neighbouring markets, including West Bengal and North Andhra Pradesh.

The initiative is also intended to strengthen dairy farming as a source of income for rural households. Hatsun said improving access to finance, better cattle care, scientific farm practices and technology can support productivity and the expansion of dairy operations.
