Goetze has launched its 486 series, a piston-operated stainless steel pressure reducing valve designed for use with steam, hot water, liquids, air, gases and vapours at temperatures of up to 200°C. The valve is intended for industrial processes that require higher inlet pressure to be reduced to a lower outlet pressure.

The 486 series operates at media temperatures ranging from 20°C to 200°C and supports inlet pressures of up to 16 bar. Depending on the model, the available back-pressure ranges are 1.5–5 bar and 4.5–10 bar. The product is available in nominal sizes DN 15 to DN 32, with connection sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 1/4 inches.

The valve is designed for a range of industrial applications, including steam generators, autoclaves, sterilisation systems, pasteurisation, distillation and drying processes. It can also be used in textile manufacturing and in installations across the food and beverage, paper and packaging industries.

The 486 series features a stainless steel valve insert that is available separately as a spare part. The complete insert can be replaced without removing the valve body from the existing pipework. This design allows maintenance to be carried out on permanently installed steam and process lines without dismantling the entire valve assembly.

Both the inlet and outlet bodies are manufactured from stainless steel grade 1.4408. The internal components are also made of stainless steel, supporting the valve’s use in industrial environments where material selection is important for process reliability. Depending on the version, the valve is available with male-thread, female-thread or flange connections. This range of connection options allows the product to be integrated into different piping arrangements and industrial systems.

For applications in the food and beverage sector, the seals that come into contact with the process medium comply with the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Commission Regulation No. 1935/2004. These requirements address materials intended to come into contact with food.

With the introduction of the 486 series, Goetze is offering a pressure control solution for industrial processes involving high temperatures and a variety of media. Its replaceable valve insert, stainless steel construction and multiple connection options are designed to support installation, servicing and maintenance across a range of process industries.
