Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has inaugurated its fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh, marking a major expansion of its manufacturing operations in the state. The new facility was inaugurated in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson, GCPL. The expansion involves an investment of more than ₹480 crore, taking the company’s cumulative investment at the Malanpur site to over ₹850 crore.
GCPL has operated in Malanpur since 1991. Located in the Industrial Area of Malanpur in Bhind district, the 65-acre facility has developed into an important manufacturing centre for the company, producing soaps, hair colours, household insecticides and other consumer products.
The latest expansion will significantly increase the site’s production capabilities. The new manufacturing lines feature advanced automation and digital technologies and are designed to operate at speeds nearly three times higher than the company’s existing lines.
With the expansion, GCPL’s soap manufacturing capacity at Malanpur has increased to more than 2 lakh metric tonnes per annum. The facility is also expected to generate a turnover of around ₹3,800 crore once fully operational. The expanded plant will manufacture a wider range of products, including popular brands such as Cinthol, Godrej No.1, GoodKnight, Godrej Aer and Godrej Expert Hair Colour. The soap manufacturing lines are capable of producing up to 4,000 bars per minute.
Nisaba Godrej said the expansion reflects the company’s long-standing association with Madhya Pradesh and its commitment to manufacturing, employment and sustainable growth. She also highlighted the increasing participation of women in manufacturing at the Malanpur facility.
The Madhya Pradesh government has supported greater participation of women in industrial employment, including enabling women to work night shifts with appropriate safety measures. The new facility has also been designed with environmental considerations in mind and follows guidelines of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
The Malanpur expansion strengthens GCPL’s manufacturing network while supporting the company’s focus on scale, automation, sustainability and domestic production. The investment also reinforces Madhya Pradesh’s growing role as a manufacturing destination for major consumer goods companies.
GCPL serves consumers across emerging markets and has a strong presence in household insecticides, hair care, hair colour, soaps and air fresheners. The company is part of the Godrej Industries Group and continues to invest in manufacturing and product capabilities across its key markets.
