Generac, a global provider of energy technology solutions, has strengthened its long-term commitment to India with the inauguration of the Generac Business & Technology Centre (GBTC), its first dedicated Global Capability Centre in the country. Located in Pune, the 21,494-square-foot facility has been designed to support more than 150 professionals and will serve as a strategic hub for engineering, technology and business operations. The centre is expected to evolve into a Centre of Excellence for selected engineering disciplines, enabling Generac to build specialized expertise that can be leveraged across its global operations.
India was chosen after an extensive evaluation of global talent markets, with Pune emerging as a preferred location due to its strong engineering ecosystem and deep manufacturing expertise. The city’s talent base aligns closely with Generac’s focus on power generation, energy management and advanced technology development.
Shyam Sunder, Vice President – Global Business and Technology Center, Generac India, said the launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy.“The India GCC will play a vital role in enhancing Generac’s technology, engineering and business capabilities. Beyond supporting global operations, the centre will help develop future leaders and build specialized expertise that contributes to the company’s long-term innovation agenda,” he said.
Designed by architecture and workplace design firm TOA, the facility combines modern workplace principles with functionality and scalability. The workspace features collaborative zones, quiet work areas, flexible meeting spaces and technology-enabled infrastructure aimed at supporting productivity and employee engagement.
The centre incorporates sustainability-focused elements, including sensor-based energy management systems, energy-efficient lighting, acoustic PET panels and durable materials selected to support long-term operational efficiency. Digital access controls and smart security systems further enhance the workplace experience.
According to Aditya Yamsanwar, Director at TOA, the project reflects the evolving role of GCCs within multinational organizations. “Global capability centres are increasingly becoming engines of innovation and strategic growth. Our objective was to create a workplace that supports collaboration, adaptability and employee well-being while remaining flexible enough to accommodate future expansion,” he said.
The launch of the Pune facility underscores Generac’s confidence in India’s talent ecosystem and its growing importance within the company’s global operations. By investing in advanced infrastructure and specialized capabilities, Generac aims to create a platform that supports innovation, strengthens business resilience and contributes to its worldwide growth strategy in the years ahead.
