Flender Earns Platinum Rating Again and Remains Among the World’s Sustainability Leaders

Manufacturing-News

Flender has reaffirmed its position as one of the most responsible industrial companies globally. The German drive technology manufacturer has once again received the Platinum sustainability rating from EcoVadis, the internationally recognized corporate sustainability assessment platform. This places the company in the top one percent of all organizations reviewed. After securing a gold rating during its first evaluation in 2022, Flender has now achieved the highest recognition for the third consecutive year.

Despite EcoVadis raising eligibility criteria for Platinum status, Flender improved its overall performance score from 83 to 89 points since the previous audit. Progress was recorded in each of the four areas assessed—environmental performance, labor and human rights, ethical conduct, and responsible sourcing. Environmental performance reached 91 points, while both labor and human rights and sustainable procurement increased by seven points, reaching 89.

Key contributors to the score include Flender’s robust governance and auditing framework, which embeds compliance and responsible practices across the company. Operational initiatives also played a major role. These include solvent recovery through distillation processes in paint applications, installation of solar power systems in facilities such as Voerde, Germany, and multiple locations in India, and wide-ranging employee programs promoting safety, inclusion, learning, and well-being. Examples range from a Safety Week at the Subotica plant in Serbia to inclusive workplace modifications and global training programs supporting business ethics.

The outcome underscores the maturity and depth of Flender’s sustainability strategy and implementation. By addressing environmental impact, responsible labor practices, ethical business standards, and socially conscious supplier management, the company ensures transparency and continuous advancement across its value chain.

Looking ahead, Flender is committed to strengthening its sustainability achievements even further. CEO Andreas Evertz emphasized the urgency of continued progress, noting “We are extremely proud to retain Platinum status, particularly given the stricter evaluation criteria. Our industry has a critical role in shaping a climate-responsible future. With global climate targets at risk, it is essential that we continue driving meaningful progress. Together with our partners, we will keep advancing toward a sustainable future.”

Kimberley ten Broeke, Head of CSR, added “This outcome shows that sustainability is firmly woven into our culture. It reflects the dedication of every employee, and it is truly a collective success.” Flender is a global provider of mechanical and electrical drive systems, delivering innovative and high-performance solutions for over 125 years.
