discoverIE Group plc (“discoverIE” or “the Group”), a leading international designer and manufacturer of customised electronic components for industrial applications, has announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Jigani, Bengaluru. The expansion marks a significant milestone in the Group’s international growth strategy and reinforces its long-term commitment to the Indian market.
The new facility spans approximately 9,000 square metres, more than doubling the footprint of discoverIE’s existing Bengaluru operation and providing substantially increased manufacturing capacity. The site is expected to support rising demand from customers in India and across international markets, while creating opportunities for future employment as production expands.
The Bengaluru operation forms part of discoverIE’s Noratel business, which specialises in high-quality power transformers and magnetic components for a broad range of industrial applications. The business has recorded strong growth in recent years, supported by increasing demand from Indian customers and new projects across key industrial sectors.
Approximately 70% of the facility’s production is currently supplied to customers in India, including businesses operating in the country’s rapidly expanding renewable energy and industrial infrastructure sectors. The new facility offers around three times the capacity of the previous Bengaluru site, providing the Group with greater flexibility to accommodate existing customer growth and pursue new opportunities in India and international export markets.
Sustainability is also an important element of the new facility’s development. Production is expected to initially focus on products supporting the renewable energy sector, including applications for wind systems. The site also provides scope for future renewable energy initiatives, including solar power generation. Modern infrastructure and an improved layout are expected to enhance operational efficiency, workplace safety and long-term scalability.
The investment comes as economic and commercial ties between the UK and India continue to deepen. The UK-India Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force on July 15, 2026, is expected to create additional opportunities for businesses operating across both markets.
Nick Jefferies, Group Chief Executive of discoverIE, said: “India is one of the world’s most dynamic economies and an increasingly important market for discoverIE. This investment reflects our confidence in the country’s long-term growth prospects and the opportunities we see supporting customers across multiple markets. The new Bengaluru facility strengthens our manufacturing capability and demonstrates our commitment to such an important growth market.” Representatives from the British High Commission in India network, local government, customers and business partners are expected to participate in the facility’s opening, highlighting the growing importance of UK-India industrial collaboration.
